Nintendo has finally revealed its long-awaited Ocarina of Time remake.
This week’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct gave fans the big reveal they were waiting for: a first look at gameplay for Nintendo’s upcoming remake of the 1998 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Nintendo also revealed a release date and pricing for the remake, which is launching on 5 November, 2026.

When is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming out?
Nintendo has locked in a release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: 5 November, 2026. The action-adventure game was shown off with brand-new gameplay during this week’s Zelda-themed Nintendo Direct, which celebrated 40 whole years of the franchise.
This newly-released gameplay focused on Kokiri Forest, and Link's journey into the Great Deku Tree; but not before players got a better look at the completely remade village inside the forest. It's no exaggeration to say that it looks like Nintendo is aiming to make its best-looking Legend of Zelda game here, though it ditches Tears of the Kingdom's cel-shaded artstyle for more realistic visuals.
The gameplay also showed off some of Ocarina of Time's combat, with Link battling monsters in the Great Deku Tree's dungeon. The gameplay then transitions to an area beyond Kokiri Forest, emphasising that loading screens have been kept in to retain the original game's feel. The fields of Hyrule were shown off in the overworld, connecting multiple areas which Link can explore.
We also saw the titular Ocarina, which Link can use to play musical notes. The Ocarina can change time or summon horses, depending on what song Link plays.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (2026) remakes Nintendo’s beloved 1998 game of the same name, which launched on the Nintendo 64. In the game, players controlled the adventurer Link as he explored Hyrule and embarked on a quest to stop Ganondorf by travelling through time. Players could explore the Hyrule overworld, as well as several dungeons.
