Ghost of Yōtei’s upcoming Echoes of Sekigahara expansion is coming with a fun surprise.
PlayStation Studios and Sucker Punch Productions popped up at State of Play September 2026 to reveal a new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei’s upcoming Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. This trailer also happens to reveal the return of a former protagonist in the franchise: Jin Sakai himself.

Is Jin Sakai in Ghost of Yōtei?
Jin Sakai is officially about to become a playable character in Ghost of Yōtei. More specifically, Jin will feature in the game’s all-new single-player survival mode Most Wanted, which is included in the previously-announced Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition. Jin Sakai returns with all four of his stances from Ghost of Tsushima intact.
Most Wanted is a roguelike mode with four playable characters and an escalating level of difficulty. Runs can be completed to earn perks and upgrades to further empower your characters. Runs can be started by picking up a bounty from the bounty board, allowing players to choose between a member of the Yōtei Six to hunt down. This bounty will eventually lead up to a final boss encounter.
Cosmetics unlocked in Most Wanted can also be used in the main game, or in the upcoming expansion Echoes of Sekigahara. Each of the game’s four characters will first have to be unlocked, but when playable, will feature their own unique weapons and ability kits.

- Jin Sakai
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will cost US$69.99 at launch for players who haven’t purchased the original game. This edition of the game includes Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, the base game, and Legends. Buyers will be able to immediately start playing the main game and Legends, but the story expansion and Most Wanted will only launch on 1 October.
This version of the game also includes all Deluxe Edition DLC and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Anyone who picks up the game by 30 September will also unlock the Sakai Armour on 1 October earlier, which presumably will be available via Most Wanted, though this is unconfirmed.
