Team Fortress 2's Summer 2026 update is the game's first major update since last year's ‘Smissmas 2025’ event.
Team Fortress 2, Valve's long-running classic multiplayer shooter, received a surprising update on Wednesday (8 July) that launched its Summer event for 2026 and added tons of community-contributed content.
This marks Team Fortress 2's first major update of 2026, with the game's last noteworthy content drop being Christmas-themed ‘Smissmas 2025’ event released in early December last year.
What's in Team Fortress 2's Summer 2026 update?
Team Fortress 2's most latest update features this year's Summer event, which will run until 15 September. As part of the event, Valve has added a new Summer 2026 Cosmetic Case that contains 24 new community-contributed items. Also being added is the Summer 2026 War Paint Case, which contains 10 new community-created War Paints that make-up the Summer 2026 Collection.
Both the Summer 2026 Cosmetic and War Paint Cases have a chance to give a taunt Unusualifier as a bonus item. All cosmetic and taunt cases will also grant Summer 2026 Unusual effects instead of their normal Unusual effects during the Summer event, though this does not include crates.
Team Fortress 2 players looking to flex their new Summer 2026 hats can do so in six new community maps being added to the game as part of the event. These include Dryfield, Camp Saxton, Shorelight, Redwood, Premuda, and Mojave.
In addition, four new community-contributed taunts have been added to the Mann Co. Store, namely ‘The Circuit Breaker’, 'Buffoon's Bivouac', ‘Faux-calization’, and ‘Friendly Fire’. A total of 12 new community-created Unusual effects have also been released, split between seven new effects for Unusual hats and five new effects for Unusual taunts.
