Capcom is officially returning to Dragon’s Dogma 2 for seconds. The game developer took to this week’s Nintendo Direct to announce Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, an all-new expansion that adds a bounty of new content, including a new region, more monsters, and additional skills.

What is in the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion?

Capcom isn’t ready to say goodbye to Dragon’s Dogma 2, and it has the expansion to prove it. In this expansion, players will travel to the Northern region of the game world, to a location called Norgan. Here, they will uncover a mystery surrounding a Fallen Dragon, and dig up relics that can be used to unlock all-new weapons and skills in doing so.

Apcom describes the new region as such:

“Once a prosperous region of the kingdom of Vermund, it was abandoned many years ago for reasons unknown. Long has it been since any soul traveled its paths. Blanketed in heavy snow, these frigid lands are home to savage hordes and creatures of unbelievable power. Those who are capable of vanquishing such fearsome foes, or those who possess a keen eye for exploration, will find themselves rewarded with powerful relics.”

The expansion also adds mysterious equipment left behind by a previous Arisen, as part of the rewards involved in completing 12 new Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges. Two new free updates are also being released to the base game ahead of this expansion.

On 10 June, an update will add easier fast travel using an Eternal Ferrystone. A second update in August will improve performance, add save slots, and introduce more adjustments based on community feedback.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will launch on 9 October, 2026. The expansion will cost US$29.99.
