What do we know about Xenoblade Genesis so far?
The trailer offered a solid look at the game’s visuals and setting, but the developer has not revealed many details yet.
Xenoblade Genesis appears to mark a fresh start for the series, as its title departs from the previous numbered entries (Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3). This is further supported by Nintendo’s official description, which states: “A new beginning is dawning” on the game’s listing.
In the reveal trailer, a voiceover highlighted the concept of Anima, described as the source of all things, including elements and the forces that shape the world. Those who can control Anima are warriors known as Vesselai.
The trailer then introduces a female protagonist wielding a sword, who vows to uphold the blade’s honour. She arrives in a region known as Leukos, which may serve as the game’s primary setting. Her weapon is strengthened by an Anima Crystone, a stone that amplifies a Vesselai’s power while also recording their thoughts and actions.
It appears the protagonist gradually learns to master her abilities while meeting new allies and enemies, including a warrior who does not rely on a Crystone to control Anima.
The trailer concludes with a character stating: “This is the land of six suns. And it is here where mankind will learn that the vengeance of a fallen god has yet to be fulfilled,” seemingly teasing the game’s central plot.
That is all that has been shown so far regarding Xenoblade Genesis. However, it is likely to feature familiar series elements, including emotional storytelling, an expansive world design, and a touching orchestral soundtrack.
Apart from that, fans can very soon grab Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition which will arrive digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 later today.
