Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake and new Star Fox reportedly coming in 2026, 3D Mario in 2027

An iconic The Legend of Zelda game is reportedly getting remade.

Nintendo is reportedly preparing to release a swathe of major exclusives for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, including an all-new Star Fox game and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The news comes courtesy of insider “Nate the Hate,” who shared information on Nintendo’s upcoming plans in 2026 and 2027.

The information was later corroborated by Video Games Chronicle, which claimed that it “matches with what VGC has heard from our own sources.”

Is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time getting a remake?

One of the most iconic Nintendo games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is reportedly getting a remake. According to a recently-released podcast from notable Nintendo insider Nate the Hate, Nintendo is already deep in development of the remake project, and plans to release it later this year.

The insider claimed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s remake will launch in “the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays.” The game is said to be in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a release window that coincides with The Legend of Zelda franchise’s 40th anniversary.

The insider noted that he was unaware of the exact scope of the project, however.

Is Nintendo making a new Star Fox game?

In the same podcast episode, Nate the Hate noted that Nintendo is also finally hard at work on a Star Fox franchise revival. An as-yet unconfirmed new Star Fox game will reportedly launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in Summer 2026. The game is described as “a classic style Star Fox game, [and that] the visuals are supposed to be very good, and I’ve heard it does have online multiplayer.”

This will be the first new Star Fox game released since 2016’s Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard, indicating that Nintendo is looking to revive the IP after years of hibernation. Interestingly, the news comes hot on the heels of an earlier Star Fox announcement this week: franchise protagonist Fox McCloud is set to star in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, voiced by Glen Powell.

When is a new 3D Mario game coming out?

That’s not all Nate the Hate had to reveal this week. The insider noted that a new 3D Mario game is indeed in development, which will be a relief to fans looking for a Super Mario Odyssey follow-up. However, the game is reportedly set to launch sometime in 2027, which means that said fans will have to continue being patient for now.

While the insider noted that Nintendo is unlikely to host a Nintendo Direct presentation until June 2026, he noted that the company has plenty more games planned for release this year. Splatoon Raiders, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, and Nintendo Switch Sports are all planned for release in Summer 2026, according to Nate the Hate.

Nintendo has yet to confirm or deny any of these reports, though time will tell if they hold any weight.
