Here’s a new look at Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy.
Owlcat Games is following up on the success of its first Warhammer 40,000 game, Rogue Trader, with an all-new RPG entitled Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. The game is set to enter Alpha Access on Steam on 16 December, allowing players to enter its grimdark world a little earlier than expected.
This week, Owlcat released a fresh batch of screenshots from the upcoming Alpha Access launch, featuring the game’s environments, party members, gory combat, and the detective system’s mind map.

Warhammer 40,000’s next CRPG is almost in our hands. Owlcat Games’ upcoming tactical RPG Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is a narrative-driven game set in the titular Warhammer universe, where players step into the shoes of an acolyte of the Inquisition. The premise is described as such:
“In a sector of the Imperium overshadowed by the Noctis Aeterna and the mystery of the Tyrant Star, they will lead a warband of diverse companions in a desperate battle against heresy and corruption, from loyal Imperial subjects, such as a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to nefarious xenos, including a bird-like Kroot mercenary.”

Dark Heresy involves detective-like gameplay via investigations, along with key narrative choices and a turn-based combat system. The game serves as a spiritual follow-up to Rogue Trader with fully-voiced dialogue, diving into one of the Imperium’s most feared organisations.
To kick off Dark Heresy’s upcoming Alpha Access release, Owlcat Games has released several new screenshots to show off what players can expect to get their hands on at launch. These images feature the game’s many grisly environments, along with a closer look at in-game companions, the combat system, and detective gameplay.

Players can become a Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Founder by joining up on the Owlcat Games website, with Alpha Access available at the US$79 and US$289 tiers.
