Overwatch’s next hero is a sword-wielding gladiator.
Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed Overwatch 2’s Hero 45, via a new Hero Trailer released this week. The new hero is named Vendetta, also known as La Lupa, an Italian gladiator who has turned into a local legend by fighting in the Colosseo map’s colosseum battles. She also has connections to a deceased member of Talon, and is now out for revenge against Overwatch.

Overwatch 2’s Hero 45 is named Vendetta
Overwatch 2 is bringing things back to the Colosseo map with its latest hero, Vendetta. According to her Hero Trailer, Vendetta’s father was Antonio, a man whom players might remember meeting in the Overwatch Retribution PvE mission released back in 2018. Antonio was killed by Gabriel Reyes (later known as Reaper), and it looks like the daughter he left behind is now out for blood.
Vendetta’s abilities are currently unknown, though it’s likely that her kit will revolve around melee-based abilities. She swings around a massive sword seemingly made of hard-light in the Hero Trailer, cleaving an entire mech in two by way of sheer force. That would make her the third melee-focused hero in the game, after Reinhardt and Brigitte.
While Vendetta’s in-game role hasn’t been unveiled just yet, Polygon claims that she will be a Damage hero. The site also shared this description from Blizzard:
"Denied her inheritance and cast aside, La Lupa clawed her way into legend through the brutal world of arena combat in the Colosseo. With every victory, her influence grew. But beyond the arena, whispers of Vendetta’s past proliferate, hinting at a history that ties her legacy directly to the original Overwatch conflict against Talon. Having carved out her place among the arena’s elite, she cuts down enemies with ruthless, regal precision. Beneath the surface, her ambitions run deeper. Each gladiatorial victory is a calculated step towards something greater."
However, Blizzard has yet to release official details for the hero online. Typically, it saves that information for a deep-dive blog post down the line. Vendetta will launch with Overwatch 2 Season 20, which is set to kick off sometime in December 2025.
