Keanu Reeves wants to return to Cyberpunk 2077, series creator says "Contact me"

Cyberpunk’s series creator thinks Keanu Reeves could be back.

The creator of Cyberpunk, the tabletop role-playing game that inspired Cyberpunk 2077, seems to be keen on Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand. Reeves had previously stated that he’d “love to play Johnny Silverhand again."

Cyberpunk’s creator Mike Pondsmith has now said that he has “ways” to make it happen.

Keanu Reeves’ return as Johnny Silverhand is possible

Cyberpunk series creator recently attended a livestreamed interview celebrating Cyberpunk 2077’s anniversary on CD Projekt RED’s YouTube channel. During the interview, he commented on Keanu Reeves’ public interest in reprising the role of Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk’s universe, despite the character having met a fitting end in Cyberpunk 2077’s campaign.

Pondsmith said that “Not that long ago, I saw that Keanu would like to find a way to come back from the dead and play Johnny again." This was in reference to an IGN interview, when Reeves said “Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” when asked about reprising the role during a press tour for his latest movie Good Fortune.

Pondsmith noted: “I have ways to do that, Keanu. Contact me." However, it should be noted that the series creator stopped just short of confirming that his “ways” involve CD Projekt RED’s upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 at all. Pondsmith could be referring to the original tabletop RPG he created, which also features Silverhand as a character.

Pondsmith confirmed that he was “not as involved directly” in the making of the upcoming sequel. However, he did confirm earlier this year that the game would feature a second city on top of Night City, which he described as “Chicago gone wrong.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel does not have a release date yet.
