Hollow Knight: Silksong is officially showing something this week, at least.
Team Cherry brought Hollow Knight: Silksong to Gamescom Opening Night Live this week, as many fans had hoped, but managed to scrape by without showing very much anyway. During the show, host Geoff Keighley previewed roughly half a minute of new gameplay for the game, and confirmed that it would launch within 2025.
Fans were understandably disappointed at the lack of news surrounding the game, but Team Cherry was quick to raise their hopes again: a mysterious reveal video is now planned for later this week.
Hollow Knight: Silksong barely shows anything at Gamescom Opening Night Live, but there’s hope
Team Cherry’s highly-anticipated Metroidvania game Hollow Knight: Silksong is still on the way, a long eight years after the first game was released. This week, the developer has brought its upcoming game to the Gamescom show floor as a playable demo, allowing interested players to finally get their hands on it.
However, the game did not have nearly as much to show during the two-hour Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation as fans were initially expecting. Host Geoff Keighley made brief mention of the game right off the bat, showing roughly 30 seconds of new gameplay during the stream, before confirming its 2025 release window. However, Keighley stopped short of revealing an exact date for the launch.
Fortunately, Hollow Knight fans still have something to look forward to. On 21 August at 10.30PM (GMT+8), Team Cherry will debut a ‘special announcement’ for Hollow Knight: Silksong via a YouTube premiere. There’s a high enough chance that we’ll get a release date then, though we could say the same about the many, many events in which Silksong has failed to reveal new information in the years since its announcement. Get that clown makeup ready!
