Call of Duty Black Ops 7 shows off futuristic co-op campaign, launches in November

The next Call of Duty game is set in a world of futuristic machinery and paranoia.

Activision showed off action-packed gameplay for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’ ambitious campaign this week, featuring its globe-trotting maps and robotic enemies. The game is set in the near future of 2035, where humanity is devolving into paranoia amid a robotic takeover.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 confirms setting and release date

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set firmly within the Black Ops timeline in the year 2035, despite its setting being rather far removed from the 1990s-set Black Ops 6. David Mason will once again appear in the game, returning from previous Black Ops titles with slightly more trauma weighing on his head.

This year’s Call of Duty story campaign is very different from past entries. Players will be able to play through the entirety of the campaign in four-player co-op multiplayer. Multiple missions will be available in the vein of classic Call of Duty levels, but this time, the entire campaign is designed for four players specifically.

The story follows a squad of soldiers fighting back against a new threat in futuristic 2035, which seems to be twisting the minds of regular human beings. Nothing is as it seems in the campaign, including its twisted levels and surreal visuals.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on 14 November, 2025.
