A big new Battlefield 2042 update includes a battle pass of free Battlefield 6 items.
Electronic Arts has dropped a surprise new update for Battlefield 2042, allowing all Battlefield 6 beta players to get their shooter fix following the beta’s conclusion yesterday. This new Battlefield 2042 update (Version 9.2) includes a “Road to Battlefield 6” battle pass, consisting of free rewards that can also be unlocked in Battlefield 6.
The new Battlefield 2042 update also adds a fan-favourite map from previous games in the franchise: Iwo Jima, reimagined as a 700x200 map.
How to earn Battlefield 6 items in Battlefield 2042’s new update
Battlefield 2042’s latest update adds a free battle pass consisting of 60 tiers of free cosmetics. The battle pass, which is titled “The Road to Battlefield,” adds rewards inspired by Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 4.
30 of its 60 free tier rewards can also be unlocked in Battlefield 6 at launch, once players have earned them. These rewards are unlocked at tier 8, 19, 30, 40, 49, and 60. That means players can unlock up to 30 in-game Battlefield 6 items simply by progressing through the Road to Battlefield pass now. This battle pass is available from now until 7 October, 2025.
Battlefield 2042’s new map: Iwo Jima
EA has also provided another reason to keep players coming back to Battlefield 2042: the new Iwo Jima map, which was last seen in Battlefield V’s Pacific Theater update. This time around, the map has been reimagined as a 700x200 map to fit Battlefield 2042’s scale, with boat landings, bunkers, and trenches.
The map also has an active volcano now, so watch out for that.
Battlefield 2042’s new hardware drops
Battlefield 2042’s latest update also adds four new pieces of hardware: two weapons and two vaulted vehicles. These include the KFS2000 Assault Rifle and the Lynx Sniper Rifle. The Sniper Rifle will be automatically unlocked for all Battlefield 6 beta players, but those who didn’t play the beta can unlock the weapon later on.
As for the vehicles, they consist of two new Attack Jets in All out Warfare: the A 10 Warthog and the SU-25TM Frogfoot.
