Elden Ring Nightreign’s next Everdark Sovereign is Caligo and he's arriving today

FromSoftware unleashes Caligo, Miasma of Night, in the Fissure in the Fog as the next Everdark boss.

The next Everdark Sovereign in Elden Ring: Nightreign goes live today, as FromSoftware officially introduces Caligo, Miasma of Night, a frost-wreathed dragon set to replace Everdark Augur in the rotating Everdark cycle. The boss encounter will be available in the updated version of Fissure in the Fog, launching today (7 August).

In a post on Elden Ring's official X (formerly Twitter) account, FromSoftware teased its arrival with a chilling line:

“From a frozen haze, the winged terror emerges. Let flames rend these frost-laced shadows.”

The new Everdark Sovereign will be released later at 11:00 PM SGT|10:00 PM JST|3:00 PM CEST|18:00 PDT (6 August).

Fissure in the Fog reopens with a new threat

Caligo enters the Everdark as the latest challenge in Nightreign, following the limited-time run of Everdark Augur, which will end just before the new boss goes live. This encounter is expected to follow the trend of previous Everdark Sovereigns, introducing new elemental patterns and modified mechanics within a familiar zone.

Within hours of the announcement, the Elden Ring: Nightreign subreddit erupted with speculation.

While official details on her mechanics remain limited, the community has already begun theorising what her third phase might bring. One highly upvoted comment by Redditor Themris simply predicts that “Phase 3 adds poison + scarlet rot breath from the rear.”

“Close enough, welcome back Guardian Ape,” PM_ME_WORKING_CODE joked in response.

Some speculate she might even call in a second dragon or pick up her own severed head, though for now, the reality remains hidden beneath the fog.

Caligo, Miasma of Night, joins the Nightreign lineup as another limited-time challenge in the Everdark rotation. As always, players will need to prepare their builds, manage their flasks, and tread carefully, especially once phase three begins.

Some players hope to see greater team coordination requirements, like builds specialised to counter each head’s element, or secret relics from the Mountaintop that offer temporary resistances. The desire for a “puzzle-style” Everdark Sovereign is strong, especially after the more traditional casting patterns seen in Augur’s reign.

With the clock ticking down, players have only a few hours left to challenge Everdark Augur before the fog thickens once again, this time, with Caligo waiting on the other side.
