Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta details announced, kicks off in September

Don’t miss your chance to play Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls early.

Developer Arc System Works had a number of announcements to share during Evo 2025, including closed beta dates for its highly-anticipated fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The Marvel Comics-inspired video game will be available for players to test out from 5 to 7 September, 2025.

Here’s the closed beta test announcement:

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls announces closed beta test dates

Looking forward to getting hands-on with Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls? Well, you might have your wish granted sooner than you think. During last weekend’s Evo 2025’s festivities, game developer Arc System Works confirmed that a closed beta test for the upcoming fighting game is kicking off next month.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be available to play via a closed beta test running from 5–7 September, 2025, but there is a catch. Despite the title being planned for launch on both PC and PlayStation 5, this closed beta test will only be available on the PlayStation 5.

Anyone who wants to play the beta can sign up via the game’s official PlayStation Store page. However, don’t panic if you’re getting an error while signing up, as this beta is also tied to the PlayStation Beta program. This means that anyone who has signed up to the Beta program is already signed up for this beta by default, hence the error code. If you haven’t signed up for the Beta program, you should be able to sign up with no issue.

The Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta test will have six playable characters:

  • Iron Man
  • Dr. Doom
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Star-Lord
  • Storm
  • Captain America

Players will be able to take each other on in the Marvel’s New York stage, via online lobby matches. Offline lobby matches will also be available, along with a tutorial and spectator mode. Rollback netcode will be available in this beta test.

During the closed beta test’s announcement, developer Arc System Works confirmed that it plans to give Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls a long lifespan. It plans to support this game with new content for the next 10 years. If its recent updates for Guilty Gear Strive are any indicator, that means that players can look forward to new heroes and stages for a very long time.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is planned for release sometime in 2026.
