Marvel Rivals players think Blade is coming in Season 3 due to in-game Easter egg

The Daywalker might soon join Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals players think that they've figured out who Marvel Rivals’ next playable hero is going to be for Season 3. While developer NetEase Games has made no officiall confirmation on the matter, an Easter egg in the game’s Central Park map seems to point at Blade's impending arrival to the game.

Marvel Rivals’ next playable hero might be Blade

Marvel Rivals seems to be hinting that its next playable hero is Blade, a character the game has been teasing players with since Season 1. In Season 1, Blade could be seen locked up in chains in a Central Park spawn point, hinting at his capture at the hands of Dracula. Previously, he was seen taking on Dracula–who also isn't playable in-game–in a Season 1 trailer.

Trailers for Season 2 came and went without the announcement of Blade as a playable character, and that might’ve been the end of it. However, Blade made another appearance in another Season 2 map, Wakanda’s Imperial Institute of Science in Birnin T'Challa. A key difference this time around is that he didn't appear to have been captured. Instead, he was just dozing off on the floor next to an empty pillow, having some much-needed rest.

This, of course, was the subject of much speculation. Why was Blade in Wakanda, and what happened after his joust with Dracula? Was he resting to heal from his injuries? More importantly, why was NetEase constantly bringing Blade back in-game, season after season, without introducing him as an actual playable character?

After this week’s 19 June update for Marvel Rivals, however, things have changed. Players have noticed that Blade’s bed is not only empty, but his sword is gone. His bedsheets haven’t even been made, which could be a sign that he’s left in a hurry.

With Season 3 of Marvel Rivals due to kick off on 11 July, 2025, it is now more possible than ever that Blade is set to feature as one of its two new playable characters. However, it is equally likely that NetEase simply plans to move the vampire hunter into another in-game map–which would be as hilarious as it would be disappointing.

Regardless, we’ll find out more about Marvel Rivals’ new Season 3 characters in the weeks ahead.
