The initial source of the inspiration was the ‘Project X’ movie and similar ones. However, a party in a movie, which looks cool due to script and editing, is just a party after all. A tournament is always something more: competitive spirit, fraternal support, hard work, etc. That's why organizers came up with the idea of a special campus instead of a classic stadium tournament: 8 teams enter not just a competition, but a fraternity, like those in the US colleges.
