Peter “Deathboose” Laihinen became the first player to win three GosuCup Europe tournaments, winning back-to-back cups last night.

A regular GosuCup EU player, Deathboose is well known within the inner circles of Hearthstone competitors. The Swede has been looking for his break-out performance for some time now, having attended two DreamHack Summer tournaments, but always came up a round or two short to qualify for the prestigious playoffs.

In GosuGamers’ EU cups, however, Deathboose is nothing short of extraordinary. Since he started actively competing again this April, Deathboose is up to the outstanding 86.7% win-rate for the past two months. His score of 26-4 in recent tournaments is largely due to his domination over GosuCup EU and last night he took his second tournament win in a row and third overall of his career.

For one player to be consistently successful in stacked, single elimination opens is rare occurrence not just for GosuCup but Hearthstone in general. The first notable such story was the one of Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk who won five ZOTAC cups in the span of one month in the early days of Hearthstone. Over in Southeast Asia, Dustin “WaningMoon” Mangulabnan has risen to become a terror of GosuCup SEA, now with four tournament titles to his name. With three GosuCup EU wins, Deathboose now joins this exclusive club of hat-trick players.

We will be bringing you a spotlight on Deathboose’s decks soon.
