OG come one step closer to securing a spot in TI 2026 by taking down one of their biggest challengers in the qualifier.
Filipino Dota 2 stalwarts
OG continued their strong start in The International (TI) 2026 Southeast Asian qualifier by soundly sweeping GLYPH, 2-0, in the qualifier's upper bracket semifinals on Sunday (21 June).
OG were pegged as one of the biggest favourites to win TI 2026's Southeast Asian qualifier, though they faced stiff competition from the likes of GLYPH,
REKONIX, and
Execration. They had a strong start to the Southeast Asian qualifier, sweeping
Interactive Philippines to advance to the upper bracket semifinals and face their first real challenger in GLYPH.
OG made things look easy as they soundly swept GLYPH to advance to the upper bracket finals, getting them one step closer to securing an all-important spot in TI 2026.
OG stomp GLYPH to come one step closer to qualifying for TI 2026
GLYPH opened the series by looking to blindside OG in the draft. They picked Puck first, apparently to be their mid laner, only to last-pick Huskar for Yi “Emo” Zhou, and instead having the Puck as a position 4 support in the hands of
Tri “Jhocam” Kuncoro. GLYPH dominated the laning stage as expected with their surprise mid Huskar pick, notably scoring three kills on
Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer's Batrider all within the first seven minutes of the game.
However, GLYPH were unable to capitalise on their early lead. Savvy maneuvering from the side of OG allowed them to score pickoffs on GLYPH's other core heroes, while avoiding fights with their Huskar. OG's lineup eventually became strong enough to take their opponents head-on just as GLYPH started to plateau, forcing the latter to call ‘GG’ after 42 minutes of action.
Despite his early deaths, Yopaj dominated the opening game, and finished with nine kills and 16 assists on four deaths to pace his team's 29-9 kill lead. John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas on Muerta added nine kills and 11 assists on one death, while
Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto on Night Stalker added a clean six kills and 12 assists.
Game two saw OG close out the series sweep in just under 49 minutes of play, behind standout performances from Raven on Axe and Natsumi on Tiny. Raven finished with a perfect 10-kill, 13-assist performance while Natsumi put up a clean eight kills and assists apiece to pace their team's 30-15 kill lead in the closeout. Yopaj on Night Stalker also added eight kills and 11 assists on three deaths.
With their victory over GLYPH, OG now advance to the TI 2026 Southeast Asian qualifier's upper bracket finals. There, they will face REKONIX, who are coming off a three-game victory over Execration in their own upper bracket semifinal match. Should OG defeat REKONIX in the upper bracket finals, they will become the first team to advance to the grand finals, and will just need to win one more match to punch their tickets to TI 2026.
