HEROIC topped Team Liquid, MOUZ, and Aurora Gaming to secure their second-ever tournament victory at FISSURE Universe: Episode 7.
In what marked the first noteworthy tournament of the 2025/2026 Dota 2 season, South America’s
HEROIC unexpectedly soared to victory, claiming their second-ever title at FISSURE Universe: Episode 7. The team defeated
MOUZ in the grand finals with a 3-1 scoreline, taking home US$125,000 in winnings.
Despite being a Tier 2 tournament, FISSURE Universe: Episode 7 brought notable teams including
Team Liquid,
Nigma Galaxy, and
Aurora Gaming–all fielding freshly adjusted rosters for the new season.
HEROIC also underwent a crucial lineup change ahead of the tournament: Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles transitioned into the midlane role, while
Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn returned to the team to play offlane. The move raised some eyebrows, as Wisper is widely regarded as one of the best offlaners in the scene, and a role swap could have affected his performance.
However, the change has paid off so far. HEROIC cruised through the bracket and convincingly defeated MOUZ in the finals, securing their first title of the season and the second tournament win in the organisation’s Dota 2 history.
HEROIC kicks off its third Dota 2 season strong
Since entering the Dota 2 scene in 2024, HEROIC has quickly become South America’s strongest team. Despite hailing from a region often considered weaker compared to others, HEROIC has consistently impressed on the global stage–with Top 8 finishes at ESL One Birmingham and DreamLeague Season 23 that year.
They began the 2024/2025 season with a strong victory at PGL Wallachia Season 2, marking their first-ever tournament win. However, the celebration was short-lived, as the roster was shaken by the controversial departure of their carry player, David Nicho “Parker” Flores. HEROIC soon reshaped by recruiting Nicaraguan player
Yuma “Yuma” Langlet, who formerly played for
Nouns Esports and Nigma Galaxy, to fill the vacant carry role.
While the team faced inconsistency throughout the year, they delivered a standout performance at The International 2025, finishing in the Top 6. Their intense series against
BetBoom Team was among the closest of the event, nearly securing them a Top 4 finish. The performance earned them praise and highlighted their potential heading into the new season.
The road to victory at FISSURE Universe: Episode 7
Just a month after TI concluded, HEROIC entered FISSURE Universe: Episode 7 via direct invite and made an impressive upper bracket run. Their path to victory included wins over
1win (2-0), Aurora Gaming (2-0), Team Liquid (2-1), and MOUZ (3-1) in the finals.
Their win over Team Liquid–which now boasts an all-star lineup with recent additions Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard and
Erik “tOfu” Engel–was particularly notable. MOUZ, a newly formed but unpredictable squad featuring veterans like
Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp and
Remco “Crystallis” Arets, also exceeded expectations but fell short in the grand final.
With this plausible win, HEROIC takes the first major title of the post-TI quarter. But the new season has just begun and far more challenging events await.
Next up is BLAST Slam IV, kicking off tomorrow, 14 October. The event will feature the world’s best teams, culminating in a live showdown at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 7–9 November, where the final six teams will battle it out for the crown.
