Major technical issues during Major All Stars

The first day of Major All Stars had a less than ideal run to say the least as not a single match finished. Due to eletrical and network issues, all matches from today have been pushed to tomorrow. Hopefully the problems can be fixed before then.

What was supposed to be a fun and merry event for the teams and visitors turned into a frustrating nightmare of constant problems surfacing. First and foremost some questionable planning was made where not all matches were intended to be streamed, which in hindsight would have been more than acceptable if those were the only issues.

The key problem was an "electrical surge resulting in all the LAN cables burning out" as reported by Major All Stars social media department. Due to the nature of the network hosting and lack of press rooms, on site visitors and crew were not able to provide footage or a feed from the venue. This combined with the stream going down multiple times due to said network issues, the event reporting was dead quiet. The most steady source of updates came from one Vitalii ‘v1lat’ Volochai's twitter feed where he diligently mentioned the status of the event. Being a known event host himself, v1lat was not impressed by how things were handled and complained about multiple aspects of the set-up such as lacking computers, cables and wi-fi. He finished up his coverage by posting the words "Day 1 ends for me with 0 minutes of Dota casting".

Natus Vincere and Invasion had to remain seated for the majority of the day, trying to get their second game ongoing after successfully finishing the first game in which Na`Vi were victorious. What was reported as a fire breaking out in one of their computers was a bit exaggerated as people saw smoke at the very most. In the downtimes, organisers tried to make the best of a bad situation by streaming the replay of the previously unaired first game between Empire and Redemption.

In hope to sort out all the causes of today's downtimes, the organisers were forced to postpone all of today's matches to tomorrow. A new schedule has not been announced yet. Organiser Tiffani Oling Lim posted on her twitter that they will have "professionals coming in to fix the technical difficulties and the damage caused by the power surge". Hopefully all these technical issues can be solved between now and then as today clearly was not a showcase of how an event should be handled.
