ESL One Cologne groups drawn on stream after G2:Cloud9 qualifying match.

Over the past four days, the eight challengers to join the eight legends at Cologne were decided in a 16-team Swiss System tournament.

Under this format, teams were drawn into groups based on their performance at MLG Colombus and in regional qualifiers and were divided into groups of 4. Based on their performance in each qualifying BO1 match, teams were moved between high, low, and medium pools for up to five rounds.

Once the Challengers had been determined they were placed into four seeding pools with the Legends. The tiebreakers used were win/loss ratio and the Bucholtz score system (the sum of the wins of a team’s opponent).
