Dota 2, Dota 2 patch 7.36c, top 5 heroes in pubs

Top 5 heroes in pubs from the past month for Dota 2 patch 7.36c

We take a look at the top 5 heroes in pubs from the past month for Dota 2 patch 7.36c.

Dota 2 patch 7.36c was released towards the end of June, so as we head into August, the patch is well over a month old. Innate abilities and facets no longer seem like a novel addition to the game as everyone has grown accustomed to them.

Although most players have gained familiarity with facets, they continue to be one of the major reasons for heroes to be strong in the current meta. This is just like talents after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.00, where hero popularity and win rates were based on how good the talents were. It will take a while for IceFrog and Valve to tune the facets on all heroes.

But for now, let’s take a look at which heroes are performing well in pubs in the current Dota 2 meta that has evolved around Dota 2 patch 7.36c. A lot of the heroes that are performing well in pubs tend to have one facet that has a very high pick rate and makes the hero much better than the other one. Also, it is a bit of a strength hero or tanky hero meta.

The heroes have been picked as the best performing ones from the Divine and Immortal brackets. This data is as per Dotabuff and has been analyzed for the past one month, which has all been on patch 7.36c. The choice of heroes has been made from a combination of high pick rate and high win rate heroes.

Oracle (Pick rate: 7.52%, Win rate: 54.43%)
Higher picked facet: Clairvoyant Cure (Pick rate: 69.32%)

Clairvoyant Cure gives Oracle a 0.75% heal amplification with each level. So by level 10, he has 7.5% heal amplification. Now remember, any heal delayed by False Promise is doubled, so for a hero under the effects of False Promise, this is like a 1.5% heal amplification. This facet was so good when it was released, that it was nerfed from 1% heal amplification per level to 0.75% heal amplification per level in Dota 2 patch 7.36c.

Oracle’s other facet is Clairvoyant Curse, which gives him 0.75% spell amplification per level. This makes mid Oracle a viable option, or at least something you would expect Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen to play.

Sven (Pick rate: 21.05%, Win rate: 54.13%)
Higher picked facet: Heavy Plate (Pick rate: 93.65%)

Heavy Plate is one of the most busted facets in the gfame, which has made Sven, who is typically played as a carry, a strong support. It is a 240 physical damage AoE barrier with a 20 second cooldown, which not only makes the team tankier, it makes Sven insanely difficult to bring down as compared to an average support. The Rogue Knight can keep absorbing damage while helping his team do the same. His Aghanim’s Shard upgrade just bolsters that ability with the passive armor and movement speed.

One top of the Warcry benefits, Sven also has a 1.6 second stun with 320 magical damage on a 12 second cooldown, which is reasonably strong. And although he might not have a spell as such that gives him the ability to keep lanes pushed out, Great Cleave serves a similar purpose once he finally gets the ability in the mid game. Also, he can be flexed as a support and core, which never hurts.

Dark Seer (Pick rate: 18.41%, Win rate: 53.79%)
Higher picked facet: Quick Wit (Pick rate: 73.88%)

Dark Seer’s innate ability ‘Mental Fortitude’ ensures his intelligence never drops below the other two attributes. This has made him a hero that prioritizes maximizing strength, which automatically gives him intelligence. And with the Quick Wit facet, he also gets attack speed to add to that! Dark Seer is probably the only hero that makes such good use out of building on just one attribute. It also makes him insanely tanky, which is a good thing to be, at least in the current Dota 2 meta.

Windranger (Pick rate: 22.01%, Win rate: 53.35%)
Higher picked facet: Tailwind (Pick rate: 91.89%)

Windranger always thrives from the fact that she is a very versatile pick, and can be picked either in the position 1, position 2 or position 4 roles. Her facet, Tailwind, is one of the highest picked facet in the game and for good reason. A 15% movement speed increment for the entire team is good for chasing the enemy team as well making quick getaways when the situation doesn’t favor you.

Tiny (Pick rate: 27.61%, Win rate: 52.32%)
Higher picked facet: Crash Landing (Pick rate: 93.65%)

Tiny’s current popularity and success is all because of Crash Landing, which is probably the only facet in the game that can match up with Sven’s Heavy Plate in terms of requiring a nerf. The facet has made him one of the strongest mids of the meta. GosuGamers did a breakdown of the numbers around Crash Landing, and how you can dominate the early game while playing Tiny through the mid lane.

Honorable Mentions

Sand King (Pick rate: 17.87%, Win rate: 52.93%)
Broodmother (Pick rate: 9.55%, Win rate: 52.73%)
Elder Titan (Pick rate: 5.53%, Win rate: 53.15%)

While these heroes are dominating Dota 2 pubs at the moment, the entire picture might change in a few days. With the two current Dota 2 tournaments – Elite Leage Season 2 and Clavision: Snow Ruyi – ending on the 4th of August, there is a chance that a new patch is released as we get closer to The International 2024 (TI13).
