EU LCS Spring Split 2016: Week 6 recap

As we start coming into the final stretches of the split, it's a flat out race to the top as highly rated teams dueled it out this past week. Let us quickly catch you up on all the action.

If you somehow missed the games this past week, here's pretty much what happened:

  • Team Vitality has shown up big time and their team synergy looks to be completely on point now.
  • H2K had a few unexpected hiccups with the return of their starting Mid Laner Ryu "Ryu" Sang-uk.
  • G2 Esports and Unicorns of Love had their brief moments of weaknesses exposed a little this week.
  • Origen and Fnatic both still look lost in the middle of the pack and time is running out for them to show major improvement.
  • GIANTS and ROCCAT seem to have accepted their fate and are now just preparing for the relegation tournament.
  • The battle for the safe spot in the standings got a lot tighter between Splyce and Elements.

In case you wanted to see some highlights from the best matches this week, here you go:

Team Vitality vs H2K

In one of the longest and most closely contested matches of the year so far, both teams danced circles around each other taking what they could for over an hour. It was one of the first times it felt like we were seeing a high-level strategic match play out, with Team Vitality just eeking it out thanks to a clutch Smoke Screen by Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet's Graves in the pivotal team fight.

Fnatic vs G2 Esports

This was one of those games where greed came back to bite G2 Esports in the proverbial ass. Building an unpredecented lead before the 10 minute mark, the rookie squad looked to have the game all but wrapped up in a bow. But going for a Baron too early proved to be their downfall moment as Fnatic proceeded to claw themselves back with the help of Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten's Lissandra.

Origen vs H2K

Despite losing to Team Vitality, H2K got their groove back against the struggling Origen. Alfonso "Mithy" Rodriguez did an admirable job keeping Origen as safe as possible in team fights. OG even almost overcame H2K off a messy Baron fight in the mid-game. But, Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen and Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage simply got caught out of position too many times and it cost them dearly.
