PGL Major Antwerp: FaZe Clan is the winner of the first CS:GO Major for 2022

They beat NAVI to prove they are still the world’s number one CS:GO team.

The wait is over. After two weeks of hard-fought battles, we have a winner for the first CS:GO Major of 2022 - the PGL Major Antwerp. FaZe Clan emerged victorious in their final match against Natus Vincere. The match was entertaining and intense. The two and a half hour match felt like both the longest match ever, and the shortest match ever as both teams displayed the highest calibre of CS:GO gaming for everyone to see.

The first map was Inferno, where both teams played impeccably. FaZe Clan started strong, winning round after round and NAVI could only collect a win after round eight. At the switch, FaZe led 10-5. As Terrorists, NAVI showed their fangs, winning the majority of the second half and in the end the two teams tied at the end of round 30 thanks to FaZe, pushing the match to Overtime. NAVI tried to push FaZe, but they were too good as they won four rounds in Overtime. This gave them the overall win, 19-16.

In Nuke, FaZe showed that they are a well-oiled machine as they relentlessly pressed their advantage over their adversaries. Karrigan as IGL showed his determination here, guiding the team to impressive strategy after impressive strategy. FaZe once again led the game with relentless wins back-to-back, and by the end of the first half, was comfortably sitting at 10-5. NAVI tried to replicate their play from the first map but FaZe continued their unrelenting strategy and by the end of round 26, it was all over as they won the map 16:10.

FaZe Clan finishes the Major with a 2-0 win over Natus Vincere.

The North American-based team walks away with $500,000, 1800 ESL Pro Tour points, 4000 BLAST Premier points and the Major Antwerp trophy. They also get the berth at the BLAST Premier World Champion, happening in December.

NAVI is not walking away empty-handed, as they get $150,000, 1400 ESL points and 2000 BLAST Premier points.

The next CS:GO Major event will be held in Autumn, with the location and country yet to be specified by Valve.
