Fnatic are dropping out of DreamHack Masters: Malmö due to Olof "Olofmeister" Kajbjer's wrist injury, replacing them are the French G2 Esports.
Following GuardiaN's announcement on issues with his wrist, further bad news has emerged as Fnatic pull out of the upcoming DreamHack Masters: Malmö due to Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer experiencing wrist pains, preventing him from fulfilling his full potential at tournaments.
The team have decided to prioritise the players health over participation at the tournament, with Victor "vuggo" Jendeby, Fnatic's Head Coach issuing the following statement:
Olof has had troubles with his arm for the past month and we still today are not sure why or how serious it is. It has grown worse the last two weeks and he won’t play until he has fully recovered and without any issues or pain for at least two weeks. He will be seeing a specialist in the following days and we will take it from there.
We were really looking forward to defend our positions as the number one team in the world, especially after our unfortunate defeat in Columbus. As well as playing on home soil in front of all our fans.
With that said, we want to apologize to all fans that had the hope and belief of our attendance but we have to put Olof’s health first and I hope we will have your understanding and forgiveness.”
Taking Fnatic's place will be G2 Esports, giving the French team a chance at redemption after their lacklustre performance at MLG: Columbus 2016.
After this last-minute change, following are the sixteen finalised participants at the DreamHack Masters: Malmö tournament, the LAN Finals of which will be taking place in Malmo, Sweden on the 16th-17th of April:
