IEM Taipei: The Mongolz claim the throne

The Mongolz are the winners of IEM Taipei, after they managed to defeat favourites of this tournament, Renegades, in the grand finals with 2-0.

Intel Extreme Masters: Taipei, which served as an Asian Minor Championship, was played throughout the last three days. The eight teams from Asia and Oceania have gathered to fight for two slots at the MLG Columbus Closed qualifier, as well as for one slot leading to IEM: Katowice.

After the entry matches and group stage, CyberZen and The Mongolz were the only undefeated teams, while the two Australian teams, Chiefs and Renegades took second spots in both groups. In the semi-finals we saw Renegades advancing over CyberZen, and The Mongolz defeating Chiefs to reach the grand final. The finals were relatively easy for The Mongolz, as Renegades seemed a bit broken, scoring only eleven rounds in the total on both maps.

Standings:
1. Mongolia The Mongolz - $30,000 and a spot at MLG Columbus Closed qualifier as well as at IEM Katowice
2. Australia Renegades - $15,000 and a spot at MLG Columbus Closed qualifier
3-4. China CyberZen - $2,500
3-4. Australia Chiefs - $2,500
