TH000: 'Unpredictable strategies are very hard to develop nowadays'

Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 3 years ago

- Original interview by Tatazu.com, translated for GosuGamers.net -

Hi TH000, and thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this interview, please introduce yourself for those who may not know you.
- Hello, my name is Xiang "TH000" Huang and I'm a Human player.

How did you get into WarCraft 3?
- I like the game. I saw that this game was very popular so I chose it and I wanted to become pro.

What do you do in your spare time? Is there a special someone in your life?
- I read some books and watch cartoons. Right now I stay with my family, no one special except for them.

My success is only temporary, I need to work harder to do my best in the future.
How do you like your new home at mouz?
- I don't know too much because I joined Mouz only one month ago. But Mouz appreciate me very much, so I will fight for them!

What made you decide to part ways with wNv?
- Many promises were broken by wNv, they are bare of credit, so I left.

Are you happy to part ways with your old team/manager?
- I did not talk too much with them, so I can't say I'm happy.

What is it like being so young yet so successful/talented?
- My success is only temporary, I need to work harder to do my best in the future.

Why is it when you play certain players, like ToD for instance that you change your race?
- I don't like to play mirror games, so I change my race but sometimes I feel I can't win with another race, then I will choose Human again.

...there are too many replays floating around here. Everyone will know when you upgrade your base, where you will build your farm and so on.
If/when someone starts playing unpredictable strategies against you, how do you cope playing against them?
- Play to the score! But I like it, because it will make the match more fun and interesting.

Is it hard to develop new unpredictable strategies?
- Yes, because there are too many replays floating around here. Everyone will know when you upgrade your base, where you will build your farm and so on. So new unpredictable strategies are very hard to develop nowadays.

What made you decide to be a pro-gamer?
- I don't like to study, and I like WarCraft 3!

Do you have any role models you look up to? Inside or outside of E-Sports?
- No!

If/When you have kids, would you want them to go into E-Sports?
- First of all, I don't want to have a kid. If I have, I will respect his choice. If he loves the game, I will teach him. If he doesn't like it, I will let him go.

How does traveling affect your game-play? Do you suffer from fatigue at LAN events?
- I try to adapt to it, both the internet and time problems like in WC3L. At LAN events, I surely suffer from fatigue.

What race do you dislike/like playing against the most?
- I don't like playing the most against any particular race now, haha, but Night Elf is the one that I most dislike.

What player do you dislike/like playing against the most?
- I don't like to play with someone who knows me and my style much. I want to play with someone who can make up new unpredictable strategies.

Which do you dislike most being used against you, hero targeting or unit targeting?
- Both!

How do you plan on keeping your current level of "unpredictability" in your game play style?
- I will play the game as I like.

...it will take a long time to become as large as other mainstream sports.
Do you ever feel that your recent success is shadowed by other top Chinese players such as Sky? Or that you will always be compared to them?
- I don't think so. Sky's results is better than mine. And I will not compare myself to them, because someone else will do it for me!

There are a lot of rumors going around that Wc3 is dying, what do you think about this?
- I don't think so. It will only die when a new game as good can replace it. WarCraft 3 is not only a solo game but also have RPG modes, so it will still have a market here.

If WC3 do die, what would you end up doing? Switch games, or go and get a regular job?
- I think I will change game.

What do you think about the current state of e-sports? Do you think it has the potential to become as large as other mainstream sports like baseball or soccer?
- It will get better I think, maybe it can be like e-Sports in Korea. But it will take a long time to become as large as other mainstream sports.

Do you think that sponsors and players as a whole should focus on one game only and not the 4-5 that are currently being played?
- I don't think so, just like ROTK, team tournaments have idiographic rules.

What is the next event we should look out for you at?
- PGL finals.

The story of th000,which highlighted him to my sight.
A guy told Sky that there was an amateur human player can defeat you in any other races, which made Sky a huge surprise and Sky did not think this guy's words right.
So this guy contacted th000 and sky for some games. Finally, th000 used Undead ,Night Elf and hum got a score of 16:4 with Sky.
After that, Sky was very astonished but became good friends with th000.

Good choice not to want kids at all. The world is full of people, we are far too many.

Cool guy, decent and down-to-earth. Go your way.
