Blizzard giving $15,000 and BlizzCon tickets to best mapmakers

After partnering up with Twitch for the $45,000 streamer awards, Blizzard will be handing another $15,000, this time to acknowledge the best map makers. The contest starts today and ends May 31st.

With making Arcade mode free to play, Blizzard have decided to help the best map makers win some decent paychecks. A contest is thrown for all Arcade game creators which will go on for four months, the winner of which will win the solid $7,000.

There are a number of requirements for the map makers. The game must be in English, support between one to six players, have a description, screenshot and a 'How to Play' section and all this must be published in a separate forum thread in the Arcade Game Showcase Forum.

After the contest ends on May 31st, Blizzard's reviewers will pick the semi-finalists and have the community vote on the winners. The makers of the top three Arcade Games will be awarded prize checks (for $7,000, $5,000 and $3,000 respectively), have their games localized in Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish and be give a ticket for the next BlizzCon. The winner of it all will also participate in a Developer Jam Session with selected members of the SC2 dev team.
