The eSports scene says goodbye to one of its most prominent members - Hyung Joo "Check" Lee. This was announced today via Check's Facebook.

Check's progaming career started in WarCraft 3, where he cemented his status of a top player by having very strong years 2003 and 2004, placing top three in Prime League 1 & 2, followed by two first places at OnGameNet's WarCraft 3 league in '03 and '04. Years later, Check continued to stay on top of the scene, finishing second at both IeSF Challenge 2009 and IEST 2009.

Check transitioned to StarCraft 2 during the beta and soon became a member of Team Prime. Despite being regarded as one of the top zerg players in Korea, Hyung Joo Lee had very fluctuating results, never making it past the Ro16 of Code S and eventually dropping to Code A. In November's Code A, his 0-2 loss to Squirtle in the first round cast him out of the tournament and he was not able to find his way back since.

In his last days as an active pro-gamer, Check was part of the French-based team of eSahara.
