Fnatic take 1-2 at GameGune Mexico

The Fnatic duo Jian "Fenix" Morayra and Payam "TT1" Toghyan took first and second in the GameGune Mexico tournament this weekend. While the Peruvian came out as the victor, the two agreed on splitting the prize money of $15,000 USD.

Both players eased through the group stage, and faced each other, as predicted, in the playoff finals. Despite the tournament's high prize pool of $18,750 USD, no internationally known players but the Fnatic duo attended the event.

Fenix, coming from the upper bracket of the playoff, only needed to win one best-of-three series to win the grand final, while TT1 had to win two. It first seemed as the Canadian Protoss would succeed after a successful first game, and a carrier strategy attempt in game two, but eventually lost the second and third game to end in second place.

Closest to stardom were the two players Ricardo "Maker" Flores, ranked 160 on the North American ladder, and Omar "wzp" Paredes, ranked first on the Latin America ladder, taking third and fourth respectively.
