Sean "Day[9]" Plott

Shaun "d.Apollo" Clark

Saturday, 23:14 - Enron

Coming up: INTERVIEWS WITH DAY[9] AND APOLLO!

Me and Sean!

Saturday, 20:27 - Enron

Naama wins the grand final 3-2 against MaNa!

A brilliant set of games, the crowd was so wild, Day[9] and Apollo were turning it up to 11, everything was so good about this final.

From Day[9]'s twitter:

Just finished casting perhaps the best series of my life. Used every last ounce of energy in that cast. Beyond exhausted. So dizzy

Saturday, 16:35 - Enron

THE GRAND FINAL IS COMING UP AT 17:00 CET!

The grand final between MaNa and Naama starts in less than 30 minutes, and we'll be heading over to the Dream Arena. Watch Day[9]'s stream, and let's all help him break 30,000 viewers! It's EPICTIME!

Saturday, 16:02 - Enron

As promised, enjoy:

Grzegorz "MaNa" Komincz

Santeri "Naama" Lahtinen

***

We also got to chat with Tarson, who against the expectations left the tournament already in the group stage

Tomasz "Tarson" Boroń

Saturday, 15:46 - Enron

Fenix won the bronze final and takes home approximately $1,400 and some hardware!

Beating TOP 3-1 in the Terran vs Terran against the South Korean TOP. Three non-Koreans will take the top three spots.

In other news we have two interviews being uploaded as we speak, and it's with the finalists MaNa and Naama! Youtube is going slow on me right now though, a busy time of the day for their servers probably.

Saturday, 14:53 - Enron

MaNa is in the grand final!

It will be a mousesports final, both MaNa and Naama being members of the mice. MaNa beat Fenix 2-0 in the semi finals.

Interviews with the finalists coming as soon as we can!

Saturday, 13:49 - Enron

Naama is in the grand final!

Naama managed to knock out the Korean TOP, 2-1, turned it around being under with 0-1. Amazing play by the Finnish Terran in the final game on Metalopolis with close positions, a very tight, intensive and exciting match.

Next semi final is between Fenix and MaNa, respective Terran and Protoss.

Saturday, 13:18 - Enron

TOP and Naama put on a very entertaining first game, could've tipped either way, but in the end the South Korean took it home for 1-0 in the first semi finals.

***

Game Two - Lost Temple

We have seen so many nice moves from Naama in this game, first thing was the Finnish Terran repairing his SCVs during a banshee harassment. TOP came out with an advantage after the pressure, an Naama decided to go for an all-in move, which was very successful, taking out TOP's entire base.

8b62a2af6bbfd3d5c459235ee933198210d897e1f6f53804a3c68d7570.jpg

The game is still on though however, TOP got a banshee which he's using to harass, while he has floated his command centers to each of the islands and is trying to get back into this game. This game is actually pretty insane.

***

The game went on for a while, TOP tried to get back into the game as hard as he could, but Naama could finish it off eventually and equalize the series to 1-1, and we'll have a third game.

Saturday, 13:07 - Enron

Naama Vs. TOP

The first game is a Terran mirror on Xel'Naga Caverns. We have Naama in the top right and TOP in the bottom left.

While the game is in the starting stage, the huge StarCraft 2 fan-bird is entertaining the crowd yet again, flying close to Day[9]'s head, unfortunately the stream did not catch it.

Saturday, 12:58 - Enron

The semi finals arre about to begin, scheduled to start at 13:00 CET, which is in three minutes in writing moment.

Semi Finals

South Korea TOP Vs. Finland Naama
Peru Fenix Vs. Poland MaNa

Saturday, 11:48 - Enron

Fenix earned himself an early lead in the game after some very successful blue flame hellion harassment, with one of the hellions getting the amazing 24 kills.

After a while Tyler did a nice try with a final attack after losing even more probes to another harassment, but it was not enough, and the Peruvian Terrran will be moving on to the semi finals after taking down Tyler 2-0.

**

Day[9] and Apollo showed us the replay to get a closer look at the hellion harassment, and the two hellions actually got 40 kills all together.

40 KILLS, WHAAAT?!

Saturday, 11:34 - Enron

Fenix came out as the victor after the first game against Tyler. The second game will start soon. Peru or USA in the semi finals?

Saturday, 11:15 - Enron

An entertaining end for the PvP between Socke and MaNa, for sure. Socke started the game with a cannon rush on MaNa, gained an advantage, but MaNa responded brilliantly by counter cannon rush him, and won the game eventually.

It's MaNa moving on to the semi finals.

Saturday, 11:04 - Enron

Good morning from me as well, I am so extremely tired and I feel like I'm in some sort of insomnia sitting here. Woke up in a sports hall, the floor was cold as ice, and that's not a good start of a day after two-three hours of sleep.

Today's games

However, the first game of the quarter finals has already been played, it was Adelscott against the only remaining Korean in the tournament, TOP. The French Protoss put up a good fight, equalizing to 1-1 on Scrap Station, but fell short in the last one. Thus his exit in the round of eight, the Frenchman has without a doubt impressed the massive amount of viewers on the streams, and the huge crowds at DreamHack.

The second game has started now, it's Polish Protoss MaNa in a mirror match against German Socke.

Saturday, 08:58 - Raistlin

Good morning, dudes and dudettes! While we eagerly wait for the quarter finals to get started, I give you the ability to bask in all the high class matches that were casted yesterday by Day9 and d.Apollo.

VODs: Group A to D

VODs: Group E to H

VODs: Round of 16

***

Also check out this video interview with NonY, done by former GosuGamers editor-in-chief Jacob "Genie" Holm, now working for Swedish site Rakaka.se.

Saturday, 03:49 - Enron

The StarCraft 2 quarter finals will begin at 10:00 CET. Just making sure to put it out there so no one will miss it, because there are surely going to be some great games with some great casting from Day[9] and Apollo!

The tournament will continue from there on until the grand final which is scheduled for 17:00 CET.

Thank you for tuning in, and I hope you enjoy the photos, the interviews, the results, and this live blog!

Good night, GosuGamers <3

Saturday, 02:13 - Enron

Naniwa: I'm not really sure if I want to continue playing

Enjoy the interviews with DeMusliM, Naniwa, and MorroW.

Stefan "MorroW" Andersson

Benjamin "DeMusliM" Baker

Johan "Naniwa" Lucchesi

Saturday, 00:20 - Enron

Interviews coming up, will have them up as soon as we can!

DemuslimintDH10460.jpg

Friday, 23:11 - Enron

MaNa won the second game against MorroW as well, and that's a GG GL from MorroW who is now out of the DreamHack tournament. Also, Socke won 2-1 against HuK in the last round of 16 game.

Friday, 23:01 - Enron

More results are in, as of now we have the following players in the round of eight after ServaNT won against LaLuSh 2-1:

Advanced to Round of Eight

France Adelscott
South Korea TOP
Netherlands ServaNT
Finland Naama
Peru Fenix
United States Tyler
Poland MaNa
Germany Socke

Friday, 22:53 - Enron

MaNa amazingly turned the game around after his dark templars managed to take down MorroW's lair. From there on, MorroW kept on making a few mistakes, and MaNa with a well timed attack which forced MorroW to GG out. I can't believe how MorroW lost that game.

Friday, 22:42 - Enron

MorroW and MaNa continued to finish the game, and they are now casting the replay. What happened was that Day[9] kicked the computer and the computer was shut down. Then the game was paused, they discussed the situation, and finished the game without Day[9], which is why they are casting the replay now.

We are currently seeing MaNa making a Dark Shire for Dark Templars, but that's his only hope in the game, as MorroW's economy is so strong in comparison.

Friday, 22:26 - Enron

I read the schedule wrong earlier, and the round of 16 will finish today. ActionJesus has 6-pooled every game, and continued to do it in the round of 16 against Tyler, but Tyler knew better and held it off, knocking out the 6-pooler and moved on to the round of eight.

Right now they're discussing a game between MaNa and MorroW, MorroW held off a cannon rush, but then the game was shut down. The referees are trying to come up whether they should re-game, or give MorroW the win because he was obviously in the lead after the rush, but not in a huge lead.

Friday, 21:44 - Enron

Fenix won the first game, and the second game is on Scrap Station. Fenix is harassing with banshees and dropping marines, followed by a thor drop at the 11 minute mark.

MaDFroG is relying a lot on his hydralisks, counter attacks Fenix, and it might as well be the equalizing move right there as the hydralisks tears up the Terran base, and GG from Fenix. 1-1, and there's still hope for the Swedish Zerg.

Friday, 21:32 - Enron

dronerapefenixDH10.JPG

MaDFroG losing sooooo many drones to the blue-flame hellions

Friday, 21:25 - Enron

Fenix and MaDFroG have started the first game in their best of three, Fenix is the red Terran in the top right corner of Shakuras Plateau, and MaDFroG in the top left as the blue Zerg.

Friday, 21:11 - Enron

WhiteRa has been knocked out of the tournament after his Protoss vs Protoss against Adelscott, TOP beat his teammate in oGs InCa, and Naama beat DarK.FoRcE. Adelscott will be taking on TOP in the quarter finals.

One more match is coming up in just a few minutes.

Friday, 19:56 - Enron

The round of 16 will start in four minutes at 20:00 CET with the first four games, then well have the rest of the tournament played tomorrow.

Round of 16

Ukraine WhiteRa vs France Adelscott
South Korea TOP vs South Korea InCa
Sweden MorroW vs Poland MaNa
Finland Naama vs Germany DarKFoRcE
Peru Fenix vs Sweden MaDFroG
United States Tyler vs Denmark ActionJesus
Sweden LaLuSh vs Netherlands ServaNT
Canada HuK vs Germany Socke

Friday, 19:07 - Enron

TLO is out of the tournament after losing to LaLuSh in a Zerg vs Zerg on Scrap Station.

Advancing from Group G:

Sweden LaLuSh
Poland MaNa

Advancing from Group H:

Canada HuK
Germany DarK.FoRcE

Friday, 18:50 - Enron

tactalkTLOdh10.JPG
TLO talking to fellow member of the swarm, MorroW, right before the game he's playing now

DarK.FoRcE won the game against FuRy, meaing he will move on along with HuK to the round of 16. Banelings dealing tons of damage in a huge battle was the game winner.

The next game coming up is a Zerg vs Zerg between TheLittleOne and LaLuSh.

Friday, 18:36 - Enron

darkforcebackDH10.JPG

It is now live, Day9 and Apollo have taken their seats, and we're in the game between DarK.FoRcE vs FuRy.

Some updates on what's been going on while the stream was down;

In group G we have MaNa in the lead with a 2-1 score, beating both TLO and LaLuSh. Skruf is out of the tournament with a 1-2 score, loss to both TLO and LaLuSh, but a win against MaNa. This leaves us with a 1-1 score for both TLO and LaLuSh, and the second place of group G will come down to the game between the two which will be streamed after the current game.

In group H, HuK has won all of his matches, making a 3-0 score and a group win. DarK.FoRcE and FuRy are on a 1-1 score, and are currently playing for the second place as Tarson has made a huge upset, losing all his games of the group.

Friday, 18:19 - Enron
We got a message waiting for Sean "Day[9]" Plott to take the stage from a crewmember of DreamHack:

Day[9] is getting a massage so we will run a little late, you know how much he likes the massages

That was a little while ago though, and rumors in the crowd had it that it would be on in 30 minutes.

Friday, 17:04 - Enron

I just have to tell you guys about DaBoO and his game against Liquid'Tyler. It's a Protoss vs Zerg on Lost Temple, DaBoO being the Zerg of course. DaBoO relied totally on Zerglings and Banelings until the middle/late game when he added mutalisks to his forces.

It was a very different way of dealing with Zerg vs Protoss, and he did quite a good job. Thus all of the force fields of Tyler, DaBoO kept on going for Zerglings and Banelings, and held off the heavy stalker and sentry forces. When Colossi was added to the Protoss army, DaBoO had spared up a lot of resources for more than a dozen mutalisks, and started some great harassment with them.

The game went on like that, and in the end DaBoO won, making him a really happy Zerg player, raising his arms high and shared the joy with the whole crowd. An epic moment, and a newcomer and a fan favorite with a very bright future even though his DreamHack story stopped there.

Here is he posing for GosuGamers among the crowd after the game, DaBoO fighting:

Friday, 16:21 - Raistlin

All but two groups have now been played, and there were indeed some upsets today.

The most shocking upset of today was how Group D was settled. Bischu, Naama and Socke all three landed on a 2-1 score after a full round. To determine the players to advance, another round was played. Once again, the results turned out the same, Socke defeating naama, Naama beating Bischu and Bischu beating Socke. As stated in the rules, the last resort is to do a random draw.

Sadly, for the Swedish Protoss, the random draw said Bischu could not advance.

Copied from the DreamHack SteelSeries LAN-tournament ruleset:

If a group ends up in a two way tie, the internal results will decide who moves on.
If a group ends up in a three way tie, another round with the three players will be
played, deciding a winner to move on from the group.
If the second round of group play still shows a three way tie, a random draw will
determine the player moving on.
***

If we instead move on to some more happy news, the playoff qualificants:

Ukraine White-Ra (Group A)
Sweden MaDFroG (Group A)
Korea TOP (Group B)
Denmark ActionJesus (Group B)
Sweden MorroW (Group C)
Netherlands ServaNT (Group C)
Germany Socke (Group D)
Finland Naama (Group D)
Peru Fenix (Group E)
France Adelscott (Group E)
Korea inCa (Group F)
United States Tyler (Group F)

For full group results, head over to DreamHack Winter 2010: Groups for the StarCraft 2 Tournament.

***

At 17:00, we have the last set of group stage matches starting. TLO, LaLuSh, Skruffy, MaNa, HuK, Tarson, DaRKFoRcE and FuRy will be entering the stage!

Friday, 12:14 - Raistlin

Friday, 11:07 - Enron
The win for Socke against Naama just one minute ago made group D go into a three-way-tie between Naama, Socke and Bischu, all with a 2-1 score.

People are wondering why some of the lesser top tier players are in the group stage. I can tell you that there have been various national qualifiers around Europe, and players as NTT, ActionJesuz, ServaNT, Skruffy, Adelscott, DaBoO and Lalush have qualified through them.

Second game between meRz and Wahla starting right now on TotalBiscuit's stream!

Thursday, 19:25 - Raistlin

Here's a little rundown on who's in each BYOC bracket.

BYOC Qualifier #1

Here we have German player DaRkFoRcE in the top, and Swedish SC1 legend TreK in the bottom. Bracket also holds iNsoLeNcE, but he didn't show up at DreamHack.

BYOC Qualifier #2

In the second bracket we have Swedish player Naniwa in the top of the brackets. He should go unthreatened through his bracket.

BYOC Qualifier #3

In the top we have Polish MaNa, who'll most likely be going up against Swedish player Skutt for the final spot.

BYOC Qualifier #4

In the fourth bracket we have the German player GoOdy and the Swedish WarCraft 3 player DowaQ. If nothing strange happens, those two will probably be going at it in the match for qualification.

BYOC Qualifier #5

Here we have the SC1 Zerg virtuoso Naugrim on the one side, and the other side Dignitas player meRz. If everything goes as it should, those two should be going at it in the final. meRz should have the advantage there.

BYOC Qualifier #6

In here we have the two buddies RunA and jimpo both roaming through the brackets. We also saw GosuGamers shoutcaster Maven reaching round three where he sadly lost to just RunA.

BYOC Qualifier #7

This one's a pretty tough bracket. We have French player MoMaN and TuFFeR who both seem to do well. Chilean player KiLLeR was supposed to play in this bracket, but he didn't show up.

BYOC Qualifier #8

Bischu and SieGe will most likely go up against each other in the final here, with Bischu coming out on top.

Thursday, 18:52 - Raistlin

I caught up with one of the tournament administrators, former GosuGamers admin Frida "Vilda" Hultman actually. She tells me things have been running smoothly, barely any technical difficulties and no game conflicts at all.

- "For all admins out there I can say that this has been a dream tournament," says Vilda. "We are gearing up to be able to run the first playoff groups in DreamArena Extreme, so make sure to tune in to the stream or get over to DreamArena Extreme and see the games when they begin at 20:00 CET!"

She also lets us know that the group stage games starting at 20:00 are the ones where no BYOC players will qualify onto. Day9 will be streaming 6 of 16 games on the DreamArena stage.

In the wait for Day9, we will have to follow TotalBiscuit's stream.

Also had a chat with the Swedish player Bischu, who's qualified for Round 3 in his qualifier bracket.

Polish player MaNa is here too. I caught him inbetween games, he said he was enjoying Sweden. He is also in the third round of his bracket.

Thursday, 18:23 - Raistlin

Hey dudes, back from the dead. Just found that TotalBiscuit is doing some casts from the qualifiers. Check out a game, currently between unknown players Yggdralisk and Knut available at live.dreamhack.se.

Giving you some updates from the qualifiers soon. Just need to find something to eat.

Thursday, 16:21 - Raistlin

News just in, DIMAGA will not be coming to DreamHack. His spot in the group stage will instead be given to Korean player oGsTOP.

Matches are supposed to start at 16:00, with the full BYOC schedule looking like this:

25/11 16:00 Round 1
25/11 18:00 Round 2
25/11 19:00 Round 3
25/11 20:00 Round 4
25/11 21:00 Round 5
25/11 22:00 Round 6

But after previous experiences, this will be heavily delayed.

***

Wondering when Day9 and Apollo will start their commentary? 20:00 CET, where we will hopefully be seeing some nice quarter final matches for the group stage. Access the stream at live.dreamhack.se.

Although the group stage is supposed to start at 20:00, which coincides with the BYOC qualifiers. Hmm. We will get the times confirmed for you.

***

I'm shamelessly stealing Nomis' list of interesting players having signed up for the BYOC:

merz T (dignitas/Sweden)
Naugrim Z (OK/Sweden)
jimpo T (OK/Sweden)
