SearchStarCraft 2 breaks 3 million mark in first month

Blizzard Entertainment reports that over three million copies of StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty have been sold in the first month of its release.
During the first day, a million copies were solid, and after 48 hours more than 1.5 million copies were sold, which set the record for fastest-selling strategy game of all time.
- "We appreciate all the enthusiasm that players around the world have shown for StarCraft II," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "It was important to us to deliver an overall gameplay experience that was accessible, balanced, and fun, and its been gratifying to see how strongly the global community has already embraced the game."

| #16 - I have a feeling SC2 doesnt do near as much to affect shareprice as WOW. assume they bank 50 USD per copy they sell 3,000,000 x 50 = 150M USD... They bring in in the range of 5-6 million x 15 USD per month in revenue from WOW, so conservatively thats 75 million USD per month. I maintain what I have said before, I think they are leading up to a World of Starcraft (or universe of starcraft or something) Just my stupid 2c anyway =) E |

| #26 stasigamer just wrong. SC2 was 39 in germany the first week after that it soon became 44 and now 47 is the cheapest u can get a SC2 DVD The Keys and download clients are still 39 but not the original DVD+Manual+Guestpass U wont find SC2 DVD lower than 47 in germany no matter where u search |

(sry for irony, but 39 was just at the very beginning ...) #29 in Saturn its 49. i checked it in 3 different towns (NRW). but you are right, there are other shops which sell it for 60 =( #31 exactly. and 50 is too much for a game imo. i mean, i appreciate blizzards work, but its just too much if you know that there will be 2 more sequels. and after every sequel is released the old one is outdated. |
| I can't believe people are complaining about the cost. After having played a few hundred games and watched countless replays, I think I got my money's worth. I mean, it costs about the same as watch 6 movies. That is only about 12 hours of entertainment. This game is going to give me hundreds if not thousands of hours of entertainment. Certainly worth the price. |
| When they add LAN and fix balance and add Linux version not only win and mac I will buy licensed copy too. I completed campaign and if not 'oh Rainor is back' hype it is NOT better that any other average RTS game and even worse than average PC game. And I do not want play it online at all with so stupid rules: no LAN games etc. |
