PGL qualifiers cancelled due to sponsor issues
The fourth season of PGL is planned to kick off in November. In difference of previous seasons, qualifiers for Europe, America and Korea were to be held.
However, today PGL announced them as cancelled. Reason for this are due to sponsor issues. "PGL apologizes sincerely for any problems this may have caused for players, and wish everybody can understand and support PGL," is said in the official announcement at myMYM.com.
The players will instead be invited based upon recent major tournaments.
China is the only qualifier that remains. The finals will begin on January 1st where a hefty prize pool of 40,000€ will be battled for.

| I don't see why u all cry about "last hope gone" and such.. PGL had no qualifiers since the very first season anymore, for non-chinese people, thus they just do it as the past two seasons, invite. |

| #4 is not about the cost, it`s about the fact that a not known player can go there, and the sponsors want well known players for advertising.. if anyone that wrote a message on this thread wins the qualifications , who would show interest in watching him play? |

| How is this an end of starcraft? They're just holding a tournament with a 40k price pool. Thats a good thing. |
| Well Chinese people DO celebrate January 1st, there will be a 3days holiday break for everyone, and there will be special dinner shows on TV and such. But yes, on the other hand, Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year more, there will be a 1-2 weeks break depending on places. According to my source, I heard they will change the rule to "invite" instead of "tournament", so dont worry, there will be several foreigners. |
