Finishing on second place in the yearly World Series of Poker, the three times WCG Russia representative, Ivan Demidov can be added to the list of successful StarCrafters turning in to successful poker players.Ivan Demidov played the WC3 tournament at WCG 2003 and WCG 2004. 2003 he lost to Insomnia in the first playoff round, but defeated nowadays Chinese superstar suhO in the group stage. 2004 he lost in the tiebreaker of Group I after tieing with Wizard and Miou. | RTS Games do give you Poker skills.... I assume. |
holy sh.. ^_^ Good job :)
omg wtf..this is a sc/wc3 and dota site-.-
#3 liven up - this is HUGE news.
Go go ... Invest 1 million in a Starcraft League
I think i have a BW rep of him somewhere.. nice going ^^
omg !!! xD rts gamers are sooo good at poker !!! xD this is hilarious xD
#5 :D:D
wow there really seems to be a correlation between starcraft and poker imagine jaedong pwn those newbs at poker
Thats because its the exact same idea lol. Read your opponent and counter. Bw players get a head start when it comes to learning poker because its the exact same concept as poker.
damn, that's great:o
You pick up some skills in SC that can be really handy in Poker. Like reading your opponent and knowing how to "counter" it. Drawing inference from what you see and making decisions based on that. Its the same as SC where u see your opponent doing something, and because of this u know exactly what hes doing, or close to it. The games are very similar in this way. BTW amazing money for this win, this kid is set for life now, i dunno why he would be crying 5 million is fuckin awesome, gj~
he just won $5,809,595 USD, poor him ... :,(
most ppl work all their lifes and get shit and this dude won 5 million by playing in a poker tourney.you should be ashamed promoting things like this
wow
gw man ! =)
ahhhhhh asmodey rofl i remember him.. wat a bastard congratz!!!!!!
i think its just their attitude that make them good @ rts and poker. they are willing to work harder than the rest. thats all about getting better in something.
grats, but anyway i really dont care about it...
5 mil? wtf was first prize!
WHO GIVES A SHIT!
first place was like 9mil something
and it wasnt even that long since asmodey stopped bw.. i remember him on afz)asmodey still t.t
#20 first prize were 9.1 million $ Well, gratz ivan, you have to play very nice to come so far + you also have to be lucky. To be honest, the whole poker stuff doesnt thrill me anymore. I have been extremely passionate about the poker scene for the last 1-2 years, but in a strange way, i dont feel anything when reading "oh, he won 2 million" etc. It is extremely boring to follow the scene because there are so many one hit wonders. you try to find out something about a player, but 90 % of the players who have a success like that just had luck + some skill, but not enough to compete on a high level for a long time. Another thing which i really really hate is that there are so many players who never win anything. they always try and buy in, but they dont manage to win sth. for someone who isnt interested in poker, this person has to think that there are only winners - but thats extremely untrue. Greetz, Roger
Amazing :) SC is like Poker, but in poker you make $$$$
Asmodey omggg gogo man ^_^
sweet :) congrats
there is not a relation between poker ans starcraft skill... its just that some ppl who have implied skill get attracted by starcraft while young and by poker when they start to need money.. and ofc there is too many advertise of poker in starcraft fan sites and community..
will people stop saying "GJ ASMODEY" its really gj Soul if you're going by his BW nick, he was just in the same clan as Asmodey... way to read ppl - -x
sick !
u all stupid ? it ISNT ASMODEY O_o the news say he was in SAME CLAN loool
Poker advertisement arrived at "gosugamers"? A shame! This is bw site!!!
#32 you should have rocognized by now that BW and Poker goes hand in hand since a long time already, great money for BW tournament been sponsored by pokerplayers coming from BW
wow , amazing o_o
omg..fking monster :)
amazing, grats
But the danish gosu took the first place - ofcourse;)
It's Soul, not Asmodey! #23 AfZ)Asmodey another guy, not real asmodey! And btw in all his interview Soul say, that playing in SC and WC3 don't help him too be good in poker.
he is a god
#23 [Zerg] [Iran] TT1 4 and it wasnt even that long since asmodey stopped bw.. i remember him on afz)asmodey still t.t 1) HE IS NOT Asmodey. He is (Orky)Soul 2) (orky)Asmodey IS NOT aFz)Asmodey :D (orky)Asmo stopped BW 1345978345 years ago :/ |
yea i asked about this on lp too cus i wasnt sure 8d
GOSU SKILLZ GJ YO
one more proof (orky) the best clan ever ^^
#33: Great money? No WCG, no TSL, no GSL, no EMS, no Hauppauge-Cup... what do you mean? These were the big tournaments at the moment. And is this a reason to make a big headline news, that has nothing to do with scbw on an scbw website?
first i thought that in starcraft someone won that money, then i start to be jealous, damn i am so full of envy what a great life it must be to walk around world and play poker and getting $5 mils congratulations, spend them wise on hookers, booze and drugs. and btw, all who points out that rts make him good poker player are morons... he is what he is, he played rts good for same reason he play poker good, fast thinking. reading opponent in poker is absolutly on different level than in starcraft... from description of that game it seems that he was owned by 22 years old danish player, who won $9mils he look like a douche...
yeah SC is the same as Poker, the most important thing is scouting.
Fuck warcraft i go play poker :)) jk
really good guy in life... GOSU in AoE,WC3,SC:BW and win this money in poker now.... RESPECT ~_~
#32: A news about Player Y (considering he's a star the size of Soul) winning any other tournament that gave him that high amount of money would be posted as well.
Poker is so fucking stupid. Wc3/SC > Poker bigtime. Poker is for old people, people that can't handle WC3/SC anymore. He should give at least ½ of that money to e-sport.
