World Cyber Games has changed the StarCraft map pool - again. Now it's even more Korea-based than before.
The new map pool announced today features Blue Storm, Andromeda, Othello and Troy, after removing Python, Tau Cross, Gaia and Peaks of Baekdu.
Removing Paranoid Androide and Azalea and adding the Korean progaming maps Blue Storm, Tau Cross, Python and Peaks of Baekdu was made two months ago announced in a press release.
Korean players have for a long time expressed their negativity towards the maps in World Cyber Games. This because of the lack of time to practice on the maps. But with the current map pool, they need not worry since the maps are played in the progaming leagues.

| Don't pro Koreans play sc all day? I'm sure they could spend 1/50 of the time they play in the month before WCG playing the WCG maps and still get in more practice than me. Or they could just not practice them at all and still most likely beat every foreigner because they are pro Korean... I mean all the maps were played by the Koreans at one time so they know them already. |

| yea. New Map Pool is really cool, except Troy. Troy sucks ass. Othello rules, Blue Storm is also nice. Proved to be a really good map. Andromeda seems to be bit imba in TvP. :-/ |

| Btw korean proleague players are too too much ahead anyway... Maybe make it: Starcraft Korean World Cyber Games (SKWCG) heh... Heh non of any other nation players are playing this game like they do... They are destroing the spirit of starcraft "foreigners". Now its obviuos that starcraft thorne will go to korean again... Cool Nerds for the win... i wont even watch a stream on wcg finals if both will be korean or chinesse again.. Really somethink must be changed while its not to late, Thank you. |
| Well you can use whatever maps you want in your qualifications... just talk to your admins and explain the situation and I am sure you can come to an agreement.... (As the korean qualifiers always used some korean maps instead of the official wcg maps) |

| Christ what a pathetic set of crybabies. "The maps aren't the same as in pro leagues, i my manager forces me to play 10 hours a day but i don't have time to practice!!!" Here's some news for them..... if you want to win a tournament, then fucking PRACTICE for it. It almost sounds like WCG adapts the rule just so the top3 spots are handed on a silver platter to the Koreans without them having to practice. That said, Gaia and peaks sucked anyway. |
