SearchBlizzard are 'up-to-speed on the console platforms'

It seems as in almost every press release or Q&A session, Blizzard are questioned whether they want to revisit the console market. Michael Ryder, the Executive Managing Director of Blizzard Entertainment, told MCVuk.com that it is not totally ruled out.
Prior to the release of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Blizzard shipped out numerous successful console titles, The Lost Vikings, Rock 'N' Roll Racing and Blackthorne to mention three.
- "Our heritage actually goes back to console,” Blizzard Entertainment’s VP and executive MD of internal operations Michael Ryder told MCV.
- "In the early years Blizzard made console games. It’s not the heritage, it’s the design decisions and what we think is best for our players.
"In the more recent years it has been PC and online orientated. But we play all kinds of games at Blizzard. We try to learn wherever we can. We play console games and we are up-to-speed on the console platforms. And if we see an opportunity where the game design would work well on the console, then maybe we will go that way. We just haven’t announced anything yet."

| Why all the hatred? They are both good in their own ways. There are plenty of hardcore and great games in console and there are a LOT of casual/kiddy games on PC. Fan boys and haters are really annoying. |
| I agree with #9, although I tend to generally prefer PC, there are also some incredibly annoying issues with PC gaming and game making, because the hardware possibilities are too numerous and expensive. The statement posted by #7 is ridiculous because this is what makes consoles much less bothersome and expensive : they don't cost much and they last longer because games are tailored to their hardware, which doesn't change. |
I seem to remember an interview with Blizzard done on gamespot.com a long time ago (when they originally announced starcraft 2 actually) where they said they had no interest at all in making games on the console because it conflicts with their design policy. They said they tried it with Ghost and that would be the last time they went down that road. How times have changed  (Greed!). |

| a ps3 sc2 port would be ... interesting ;p not that i have anything against consoles, infact i love them, but rts on consoles have never really worked, have they. i did have war2 and red alert on psx but it wasn't the same as on pc. |

Besides Blizzard also said they be stating a new game come this years blizzcon NOT in the SC, WC or Diablo universes maybe a FPS / Racing Game? |

| As has been mentioned RTS on console blows big time. no point dont try it. FPS on the otherhand really does. FPS/RPG combos such as fallout and mass effect have been some of the best games to come out on consoles. a console fps/rpg based in the starcraft universe kind of like WoW could work wonders. could also work in the mmo element too |
