Krepo retires from professional League

Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels will no longer be a competitive League of Legends player. The former support of Elements announced that himself in a Facebook post.

Krepo started his televised career with the team of CLG Europe and in the period between 2011 and 2012 he also experienced his personal peak, as the team reached the finals of Azubu Champions Spring 2012. After the roster was subsequently acquired by Evil Geniuses in January 2013, Krepo has been struggling to find the same level of success, a third place in the 2013 Spring Playoffs being his best result since. His latest stint with the team of Elementz placed him seventh in the 2015 Spring regular season, just one spot short of making the playoffs.

Last night, Krepo announced he will no longer be playing League of Legends professionally. Even though the Belgian says that “League of Legends is the best thing that ever happened to [him]”, he admits that the game has become less fun and more like a grind, hence his decision to retire.

Lately I found myself having a little less fun with the game. Looking back i'm having a hard time finding 3 consecutive days where i've been truely happy in the last few months. Hell, i've been getting salty and even a tad toxic in soloqueue as of late. Most of it stemming from the fact that I care a lot about winning & playing the game correctly, but I think i've gone too far in that mindset sometimes. I've always said the moment playing this game stops being fun and feels like a grind, i'll retire. And i think that moment has finally come.

With Krepo stepping down as starting support, the support position in Elementz will likely be re-taken by Patrik “Nyph” Funke.
