LoL eSports conglomerate stats: Compare & Contrast

With the current super-week taking place, we're taking a look at stat comparisons between the various regional powerhouses.

Not relevant to the stats.

Team KDA's by region

It wouldn't be proper Korean ratings in recent times without Faker sitting upon his proverbial throne.  That's right, Faker has the highest KDA once again from Korea.  However, the second place player really does not trail too far off here. Samsung Galaxy's Deft is directly behind him, even when times are tough and it's hard to stay alive as a marksman these days.

In third, but rather far off from the top two is Samsung Galaxy's Acorn.  While he may have been more comfortable in Season 3 when he could play more AP top laners, the top laner has shown his ability to adapt with his awesome Dr. Mundo play, albeit only in one game so far.

The members of Team WE would certainly see themselves in a deficit after this weekend's performance, but before then, they were absolute monsters.  Weixiao has shown that he can be a force to be reckoned with and adapt to new supports, since Fzzf moved off to the supposed "Super Team" of Edward Gaming.  Falling far below him but still in second place is Weixiao's trusty aforementioned support, Conan.

Under most circumstances, Namei would always be a top two contestant, but this time, San is only second to Weixiao in terms of performance. OMG were always considered incredible in Season 3, but their bottom lane wasn't usually the focal point, and they even used Positive Energy's bottom lane for WCG.  However, now is San's time to shine.

Since the Season 2 World Championships, bebe has remained one of the strongest AD carries in Taiwan and Southeast Asia.  The Taipei Assassins lead their group in GPL, and seem to dominate every game.  bebe has only died three times in five games, and he remains unkilled on three champions.  Despite this, Group B leader AHQ's AD carry, GarnetDevil isn't far behind with his strong Lucian play.

To round out the GPL top three, TPA's Morning shows his face.  He was one of the Taiwanese Lulu pioneers, so it is unsurprising that he's been extremely efficient with it, using the ultimates to keep both himself and bebe alive at the right moments.

KDA's don't run very high in Europe, do they?  In fact, there's no double digits here, but it's important to note that LCS has been running way longer than the Asian leagues.  With that said, the rewards largely are in favor of marksman here, with Rekkles in the the top KDA spot despite Fnatic's recent slump.  Genja doesn't trail far behind at 5.6.

Kev1n may not be on the first place team that he used to be apart of anymore, but he's been doing work for Millenium.  Millenium's been in a rough patch, but they can always count on Kev1n to be a consistent top laner and get the job done.

Yep, Meteos is the only jungler even mentioned on these KDA awards, and he broke a double digit number over 7 weeks of playing.  Meteos continues to be North America's strongest jungler, with his trusty AD Carry Sneaky taking third place in the KDA awards.

In second place is TSM's WildTurtle.  It may come off as a surprise that no CLG members are up here with their recent strong performance and hot streak, but they also are a very PvE oriented team now that doesn't team fight a lot.  With that said, strictly on grounds of KDA, WildTurtle surpasses both Sneaky and Doublelift.

Contested Champions by Region

Kassadin has not even been touched in Korea, which isn't much of a shocker, but most regions have at least let him through once.  What's interesting is in Masters, Zyra has been contested four times even before the support item changes, though this is mostly due to trademarked player picks.

Sivir's virality in other regions is most likely in large part thanks to Masters, where she's up there for contested champions on the same scale or near the same scale as Elise, Lulu, Shyvana, Lee Sin, and Thresh.

Lucian, or as the LPL casters like to call him "Obama" (I'm not joshing you, go watch the rebroadcasts), has had overwhelming popularity in China. With how AD carry centric the region is, it's no surprise that one of the safest, caster-iest carries ends up reigning supreme in popularity.  With that said, most of the popular picks are shared with other regions, with a special mention of Riven, due to LGD's Star being a monster on her and due to LPL playing their games on patch 3.15.

Expect wacky picks to explode out of LPL and plague other regions in the near future, as has usually been the case.

Any GPL fan expects to see Gragas and Thresh taking the top spots.  Vietnam's top lane Gragas has increased the champion's popularity far and away, as he can be ran in both solo lanes.  Thresh is a must-ban against Junie, Jay, and GreenTea, who can carry entire games with a single champion.  Fizz appears on this list due mostly to westdoor's success.

What might be most surprise most newcomers to GPL, however, is the relatively low point upon the list at which Kassadin appears.  The few times he has been picked have resulted in losses, and most teams don't see him as as high of a priority ban as in other regions—unless, of course, you play against westdoor.

62 Kassadin bans.  Yeah, Europe started the Kassadin hate train first and they also went the hardest with it. Oddly enough, this is still 1 less than NA because it was allowed through a second time.  European contested champions are very similar with other regions, with a special inclusion of things like Kayle and Caitlyn, whch haven't been as popular in the East.

Also, Ezreal has been picked 8 times in Europe, but no one's ever banned it because 5 of those games were losses. Guess it's back to the AD trinity for EU.

North America traditionally tends to copy from other regions and mix them into a pot, and the stats show that here.  However, LeBlanc is especially hot in North American compared to other regions. Olaf is also another champion that North America has toyed around with a lot more than other regions. Some European hot picks are also on the list, but less prioritized, like Caitlyn, Kayle, and Trundle.
