Blizzard cracks down on recent swell of maphackers

The same maphacks that plagued Starcraft 2 seem to also be present in Heroes of the Storm. Blizzard makes a stand.

Hacking is something any PC gamer is familiar with; it sprouts up in nearly every multiplayer game eventually and their is no debate within the community on whether it is wanted or not. Hackers are universally loathed for the frustration gameplay they force people to endure and, recently, it was revealed that Heroes of the Storm isn't safe from this problem.

The two most popular examples of maphacking within heroes are the following two videos:

And...

We see a Kael'thas player in the first game recklessly maphack to land impossibly accurate flamestrikes throughout the course of the game. In the second video, a inhumanely skilled Nova player manages to secure pinpoint snipes without ever having vision of their target. You may be a skeptic at first, but watching the videos in it's entirely leaves little room to argue. Maphacks exist in Heroes of the Storm.

And this doesn't come as much as a surprise to Starcraft 2 players. Heroes of the Storm was made using the Starcraft 2 engine, and as such, is apparently vulnerable to the same hacks. Blizzard issued their first firm warning against hacking today with the following statement:

About what you would expect from a developer trying to stamp out hacking. This is the first time Blizzard has made such a statement regarding Heroes of the Storm, so it can only be assumed that the problem has grown large enough (or at least large enough in public opinion) that warrant official attention.
