Powder joins Orange, Ostkaka in Alliance

The team has added yet another Swede to the roster.

Not two weeks after SK Gaming released the majority of its roster, including Swedish quartet of Sebastian “Spo” Sjöbeck, Jesper “Freakeh” Eriksson, Martin “MartinCreek” Bäcklund and Harald “Powder” Gimre, one of those players has found a new home.

Runner-up from Assembly Summer 2015 and semi-finalist from two PGL Tavern Tales events, Powder will join fellow countrymen Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall and Jon “Orange” Westberg in Sweden-based Alliance.

Alliance itself stepped into Hearthstone in September last year, signing the IEM Katowice and SeatStory Cup champion as its founding member and added then reigning world champion Ostkaka two months later. With the four SK Swedes being released into free agency, an expansion from Alliance was not out of the question, given Orange’s long-time relationship with his former team-mates from team Darkstar. Alliance will be Powder's sixth team, after his career has taken him through DKMR, IHEARTHU, Trig Esports, ManaLight and most recently SK Gaming.

With three players on its roster, all of which with multiple high-place finishes in major events, Alliance makes strong argument for being one of the best Hearthstone teams in Europe, if not the world, as its three players combined have won upwards of $200,000 in prize money in their careers. Alliance will also compete in ESL's trinity series against other top teams such as G2 Esports, Luminosity Gaming and Virtus.pro, among others.

Whether Spo, Freakeh and MartinCreek will sign new contracts remains to be seen.
