The fantastic four of Warrior, Warlock, Shaman and Druid ruled the field this weekend, as the best in Europe this season were decided.
The field of 161 players attending the EU Summer Preliminaries from all over the continent was reduced to eight this Sunday. For many high-profile names, the tournament was yet another failed attempt to reach the coveted regional championships, while up-and-comers snatched the seeds instead.
The major storylines of the weekend had Georgec and DrHippi make repeat Europe Championship appearances. In winter, DrHippi was stopped by his would-be team-mate Naiman in the grand finals and had to wait two seasons before he was given another shot at a Blizzcon spot. Praised for being one of the brightest young talents in the game, Georgec’s run through the Spring Championship was much shorter than DrHippi’s and faced elimination in the first round by Complexity’s Loyan.
Those two will join a line-up of names very familiar to those following competitive Hearthstone at the grassroots level. Players such as Likeabawse, Ikealyou and Dizdemon have been competing for the better part of Hearthstone’s life and – among the aforementioned repeat finalists – are among the favorites for the Summer Championship.
That, however, is one month into the future. Today, we take a look at the decklists used by the top eight to beat the preliminaries. Unfortunately, we’re missing the decks from Viper and Grayj, but the rest give a very good idea what the meta was like during August 13-14.
