Since Chakki’s win at DH Austin, N’Zoth Paladin hasn’t really been performing in high-tier tournaments, until this weekend.
Spanish player Evangelion became the best Hearthstone player at DreamHack Valencia last night, defeating Complexity’s Crane 3-1 in the finals. Although showing great play – and great draws, too – a large part of Evangelion’s success is owed to his off-meta line-up. Where many competitors would have Zoo or Shaman as their headline deck of choice, for Evangelion it was a slow N’Zoth Paladin control.
With a lot of board control mechanics and heals, the deck performs exceptionally well against the aggressive meta. That’s even more true now that his direct and strongest counters in Miracle Rogue and Freeze Mage are almost out of the meta and stabilizing the board is all one has to worry about and not dying to [card]Conceal[/card] shenanigans from full health.
