Here’s who’s leading the DreamHack Valencia rankings after day one

Seven rounds of swiss are behind us, with two more to go before playoffs.

The DreamHack competition in Valencia returned with a revamped outlook this year. Previously known for lackluster production and lack of English streams, it was all proper and polished in Spain yesterday, the tournament now part of the official DreamHack Grand Prix for Hearthstone.

Yogg-Saron was the theme of competition, the Old God making multiple game-saving appearances in televised matches. Largely critiqued by players, casters and experts for its power level and the ability to win otherwise lost games, Yogg-Saron’s madness didn’t make for a strong defense for card’s balance.

That’s not to take anything away from the players in the lead of the rankings. With the pool expanded beyond 200 but the number of swiss rounds kept the same, contenders are allowed even less mistakes now if they want to make it to the top 16.

Two rounds before the end of the swiss stage, these are the current rankings with Greek Dethelor and Pole Dawido leading the charts. Established names of the scene such as Crane, Blackout, Tars, StanCifka and Greensheep are also in the running.
