Malaysia excels at the inaugural GosuCup SEA for the Summer season

Malaysian teams took both first and third place, banking a total of 4 HCT points and $350.

Eng Wei “National” Zhe was crowned the first summer champion of GosuCup SEA on Saturday. The Malaysian player defeated a true veteran of Hearthstone, Lan “Neilyo” Tran in a sweeping 3-0 grand final to take the lion’s share of the $500 prize pool. National piloted a line-up of Paladin, Warrior and Warlock and punished the weak spot in Neilyo’s own composition – the Hunter – to snatch the blanking victory.

Another Malaysian player in Yew Weng “Wkyew” Kean took the bronze prize, after a 3-1 win against Filipino Sherwin “pipoysnatch3r” Aquino, and will take home $50 plus one HCT point. Pipoy was also the Philippines player to get the farthest in the cup, despite the country having a total of five representatives in the quarter finals.

Registrations for GosuCup SEA #2 are now open, too, so make sure to reserve a spot and compete for the $500 and 7 HCT points this Saturday. We will be bringing you decklists and winners interviews soon on GosuHCT.com.
