Hearthstone’s finest gather for a $10,000 invitational starting today

Kolento, Hoej, Lifecoach, StrifeCro, Orange, Ostkaka and Thijs are among the participants.

Despite having a more than decent prize pool and lots of quality players, the first season of Hearthstone Champions League went somewhat under the radar. Held in the first days of December, HCL found itself sandwiched between Celestial Invitational and the building hype for Insomnia’s Truesilver Championship and the victory of David “Dog” Caero over Stanislav Cifka barely made the headlines.

Returning for its second today, HCL will opt to not make the same mistake. The group stage of the tournament will take the entire week and will then take a pause for the HWC winter preliminaries. Its return will happen the following weekend, giving the players the needed time to prep and travel for the biggest tournament of the month, PGL’s Tavern Tales on February 26-28.

There’s a lot of star power called for HCL Season 2. A lot of the players from season one, including the top four of Dog, Cifka, Pavel Beltukov and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh, are making a return. The full line-ups of Na`Vi and G2 are also on the line, making the tournament a must watch, especially in the days leading up to the highlights of February.

One group will be played each day, starting at 17:00 CET. The pairings can be seen below.
