Lifecoach triumphant at the Celestial Invitational

In his first championship run since May, the G2 speared through Eloise, Kolento and Tom60229.

Although still considered among the best in Europe if not the world, Lifecoach’s stream of tournament wins slowed down with the coming of the summer. Previously the undisputed king of Hearthstone in the February-May period, Lifecoach struggled to get another major title after Viagame HouseCup #3.

This past weekend, the German proved he’s back in his top form, emerging victorious in the $25,000 Celestial Invitational. The tournament itself featured a peculiar format – each player was required to bring nine different decks and split them evenly between their round robin or playoffs opponents. In what became the most diverse metagame that Hearthstone has scene in ages, the most prominent and flexible deck builders and pilots persisted through.

Despite his eventual triumph, Lifecoach was on the verge of elimination in the group stage, only escaping by just narrowly having a better tiebreaker compared to HWC quarter finalist Zoro. Picking up pace in the playoffs however, Lifecoach dropped just three games in total, ending his run in a 3-1 over Wei Lin “Tom60229” Chen.
