Vulcun’s Hearthstone league is coming June 22nd with $100,000 over two seasons

Finally, information surfaces about Vulcun’s Hearthstone league and we’re about to get even more Hearthstone content next month.

Vulcun, the website operating fantasy leagues for games like League of Legends, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: GO, was reported earlier this month to have desire to dip in the world of Hearthstone. These first reports spoke of an ongoing league akin to the already running KPL and Nvidia Pro/Am where the players fight over several weeks before electing champion.

Today, the official announcement from Vulcun sheds more light on the tournament. The league will be called “Vulcun Deckmasters” and will have a line-up of 20 players. What makes this league different than its counterparts, however, is that only eight of the players will be invited, the rest will come from an open qualifier. The initial plans for the Deckmasters league cover two seasons with $50,000 each, or a total of $100,000 in cash prizes.

League’s 20 players will be split into four round robin groups where the top 3 of each will advance to the championship bracket.

With the split between invites and qualifier being 8:12, the Deckmasters league has also been made eligible for World Championship points, a total of 230 where the winner takes 100. The open qualifiers themselves will begin June 8th with the main event following two weeks later, on June 22nd. The league will have a three-day streaming schedule on Monday, Tuesday and Friday for a total of three weeks with five Bo3’s played each day.
