Harry "Massan" Cheong reigned over The Pinnacle 3 last night, defeating David "Dog" Caero in a 4-0 grand final sweep. This is Massan's second tournament championship after Heroes of Cards #2.
Following his HoC #2 championship run, Massan's televised appearances came to a halt. The former StarCraft 2 professional spent November and December away from the last tournaments of the year. He only returned this January as he accepted an invitation to Kinguin Winter 2015 where he came within inches of the championship, losing to eventual champion Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh in the semi finals. Massan's second tournament of the year - Battle of the Best - also did not bring fruitful results but fortunately for the Korean, another opportunity presented itself shortly.
The third edition of the Pinnacle once again called for eight players and Massan found himself in what could be considered the group of death, featuring Petar "Gaara" Stevanovic, Sebastian "Xixo" Bentert and Kolento. Contrary to popular expectations, Massan flew through undefeated, beating both Gaara and Xixo 3-1 to take first in the group.
The playoffs, however, didn't start too well for Massan as Complexity's Dog ran away with a 3-2 win and was the first to the Pinnacle finals. Massan eventually joined him there as well, beating Gaara again in the losers finals.
It was Druid and Hunter that carried Massan to the championship in these last two games. Gaara coup'd Hunter immediately but that left Massan's Druid open to deliver a clean sweep. In the finals, Dog let the Hunter live only to see it pocket three in a row. When Dog took the decision to finally coup the Hunter, it was already too late - the Druid that ousted Gaara needed to win just one game and that's what it did.
