Heroes of Cards announce $40,000 circuit with LAN finals

Jan "Faramir" Engelmann closed the 2014 season, winning the fourth edition of Heroes of Cards

The guys over at Heroes of Cards are stepping up their game, returning for a bigger and richer 2015 season.

The Heroes of Cards initiative started in August when a small $2,500 online tournament was put up. After a two-day competition, it was Dima "Rdu" Radu who took home the inaugural crown, beating Harry "Massan" Cheong in the finals. Over the course of the next four months, three more tournaments were held. In October, Massan made another grand final but this time came out victorious, trumping Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh. In November and December, Jan "Ek0p" Palys and Jan "Faramir" Engelmann joined the champions' clique and with the back-to-back wins of the German duo, the 2014 season was ended.

Today, the return of Heroes of Cards was announced as the crew behind them revealed the plans for the 2015 season, which aims to tie the separate events more. A total of six online cups will be held - each with a $3,000 prize pool and sixteen players - which will award points to the top competitors. These points will ultimately decide which eight names will be invited to the grand conclusion - the $12,000 LAN final.

In addition to the total prize pool, a total of $9,600 will be given as travel expenses for the eight grand finals' contenders

There's no schedule breakdown announced yet but we do know the dates for the first cup: February 21-22nd.
