Hearthstone with three IGN nominations for best game

Blizzard's TCG may win more awards before the year is past as Hearthstone has received three "Best game" nominations in the IGN awards.

It's shaping up as a brilliant year for Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft. Even before its official launch in March, the game has been gaining praise with snowballing effect. Catering to casual gamers and hardcore competitors alike, Hearthstone attracted a massive community, propelling it to the top of the Twitch rankings. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were given away as prize money in the Hearthstone eSports scene, making for an unparallelled boom of a game this young and a genre more or less foreign to traditional eSports.

In April, the game landed in iPad tablets, another boost to its popularity. Reaching handheld users on top of the regular PC gamers, Hearthstone was soon played by over 20 million people. In December, the inaugural "The Game Awards" acknowledged the game by selecting it as the number one handheld/mobile game of the year and from the looks of it, TGA might not remain the only one to do so.

One of the leading gaming sites IGN.com is also giving praise to Hearthstone, nominating the card game in three categories: "Best PC Game", "Best mobile/handheld game" and "Best overall game". Hearthstone's competitors in these categories include top titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, Dark Souls 2 and Divinity: Original Sin, among others.
